General
Gisborne District Council
Local Government Act 1974
Compulsory Acquisition Notice
In the matter of the Public Works Act 1981, and in the matter of the Gisborne District Council:
Notice is hereby given that the Gisborne District Council proposes in pursuance of the authority vested in it under section 247s of the Local Government Act 1974 to take under the Public Works Act 1981 the interest in the land described in the Schedule to this notice.
The land is to be used for the purpose of constructing a stopbank alongside the Waipaoa River.
The taking of the land is considered reasonably necessary because a change in the course of the Waipaoa River after Cyclone Bola meant that the then stopbank could no longer prevent flood damage to the surrounding farmland and a new stopbank has been constructed on the land described in the Schedule to this notice.
Any person who wishes to object to the land being taken must send a written objection to the Registrar, Planning Tribunal, Tribunals Division, Justice Department, Private Bag, Postal Centre, Wellington, within 1 month after the date of publication of this notice.
Schedule
