(3) In this clause the term “exclusive” has the same meaning as in the Explosives Act 1957.

Authorised lures and baits—No licence holder shall fish for sports fish with any bait or lure other than artificial or natural fly, insect, worm, crustacea, minnow, fish (excluding fish ova or any portion of a fish or any shellfish (mollusca)).

Daily limit bag—(1) No licence holder shall on any one day take, kill or have in possession more than 8 sports fish.
(2) Notwithstanding subclause (1) of this clause, no licence holder shall on any one day take or have in his possession more than:
(a) 6 quinnat salmon or trout taken from Lakes Coleridge and Heron of which no more than 4 shall be trout:
(b) 4 quinnat salmon taken from any other water, except from the area of the Lee and Tentburn River mouth where the limit shall be 2 sports fish:
(c) 4 trout taken from any other water.
(3) No licence holder shall continue to fish for sports fish on any day on which he has already killed 8 sports fish.
(4) Notwithstanding subclause (3) of this clause, no licence holder shall continue to fish for sports fish in the area of the Lee and Tentburn River mouth on any day on which he has already caught, taken or killed 2 sports fish.
(5) It shall be permissible to make up the difference between a lesser limit bag prescribed in one place and a higher limit bag prescribed in another place.
- Minimum size to be taken—(1) No licence holder shall take or have in his possession any trout or salmon which does not exceed 25 cm in length.
(2) Every licence holder taking a trout or salmon which does not exceed the specified length shall immediately return it with as little injury as possible into the water from which it was taken.
- Revocation—The notice published in the supplement to the Gazette, No. 164 of Thursday, 24 September 1987, on pages 4513–4515 title District Anglers (North Canterbury Acclimatisation District) Notice 1987, and Amendments No. 1 and No. 2 are hereby revoked.

District Anglers (West Coast Fish and Game Region) Notice 1990
Pursuant to section 26R (3) of the Conservation Act 1987 (as added by section 17 of the Conservation Law Reform Act 1990), the West Coast Fish and Game Council hereby gives the following District Anglers Notice.
Notice

Title and commencement—This notice may be cited as the District Anglers (West Coast Fish and Game Region) Notice 1990 and shall come into force on the 1st day of October 1990.

Interpretation—Words and expressions in this notice which are defined in the Conservation Act 1987, or the Freshwater Fisheries Regulations 1983, shall have the meaning so defined.

Open season—(1) Subject to subclause (2) of this clause and to clause 4 of this notice, there shall be an open season for fishing for sports fish from the 1st day of October in any year to the 30th day of April in the following year (both days inclusive).
(2) Subject to clause 4 of this notice there shall be an open season for fishing for sports fish from the 1st day of October in any year to the 30th day of September in the following year (both days inclusive) in the following waters:
(a) Karamea River, downstream from the cableway at the mouth of the Lower Gorge;
(b) Little Wanganui River, downstream from the State Highway No. 67 Road Bridge;
(c) Mokihinui River, downstream from the cableway below Welcome Creek;
(d) Buller River (within the West Coast Fish and Game Region);
(e) Nile River, downstream from the confluence with the Awakere River;
(f) Grey River, downstream from the confluence with the Clarke River;
(g) Lake Brunner, except within 100 m of the mouth of any river, stream, or creek flowing into the lake;
(h) Arnold River, between Lake Brunner and the Arnold Dam;
(i) Taramakau River, downstream from the Stanley Gooseman Bridge at Jacksons;
(j) Arahura River downstream from the Lower Gorge at Humphries Road;
(k) Hokitika River downstream from the swingbridge at the Lower Gorge;
(l) Kokatahi River downstream from the confluence with the Styx River;
(m) Lake Mahinapua and Mahinapua Creek;
(n) Lake Kaniere (subject to clause 4 (b));
(o) Lake lanthe;
(p) Big Waiitaha River downstream of State Highway No. 6;
(q) Big Wanganui River (South Westland);
(r) Poerua River (South Westland);
(s) Whataroa River;
(t) Lake Wahapo;
(u) Lake Mapourika (except as provided for in clause 4);
(v) Waio River;
(w) Fox River;
(x) Cook River;
(y) Karangarua River;
(z) Lake Paringa (except as provided for in clause 4);
(aa) Lake Moeraki (except as provided for in clause 4);
(ab) Lake Ellery (except as provided for in clause 4);
(ac) All waters within the tidal influence south of, and including the Hokitika River.
(3) No licence holder shall fish for, take or attempt to take, any sports fish except during an open season.
- Closed season—(1) There shall be a closed season for fishing for sports fish—
(a) From the 1st day of April in any year until the 31st day of August in the same year (both days inclusive) within 100 m of any inflowing or outflowing creek, stream, or river being a tributary of Lakes Mapourika, Paringa, Moeraki or Ellery.
(b) From the 1st day of October in any year to the 30th day of September in the following year (both days inclusive) in any stream flowing into Lake Kaniere.
(c) There shall be a closed season for fishing for quinnat salmon from the 1st day of April in any year to the 31st day of August in the same year (both days inclusive) in the Okarito Lagoon and its tributaries, the Hall River, Windbag Stream, Whakapohai River and Moeraki (Halli) River.
(d) All other rivers not specified in 4 (c) shall be closed for fishing for quinnat salmon from the 1st day of May to the 30th day of September (both days inclusive) in the same year.
