To the Secretary of Commerce

I, David John Butcher, Minister of Commerce, acting pursuant to section 112 of the Radiocommunications Act 1989 ("the Act"), and pursuant to the policies of Government communicated to you in the Statement of Government Policy and Directions to Secretary of Commerce dated 20 December 1989 and published in the Gazette of 11 January 1990 at page 4, hereby direct you as follows:

That notwithstanding paragraph (e) of the directions contained in the Statement of Government Policy and Directions to Secretary of Commerce dated 20 December 1989 you may make such assignments of 2 Frequency Land Mobile frequencies as are required for the purposes of the Commonwealth Games and the Whitbread round the world yacht race.

Pursuant to section 35 of the Defence Act 1971, His Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Army.

REGULAR FORCE

Royal Regiment of N.Z. Artillery

Major J.R. Barrett, DIP.SC.(MIL.), is transferred to the Territorial Force with effect from 21 October 1989.

Captain S.S. Eaton, B.A., to be acting Major with effect from 1 October 1989.

Royal N.Z. Armoured Corps

Major Donald Alan Johnston, DIP.BUS.ADMIN., is transferred to the Army Reserve, General List of Officers, in his present rank with effect from 21 September 1989.

Acting Major R.L.C. Odom to be temporary Major with effect from 9 June 1989.

The Corps of Royal N.Z. Engineers

Temporary Major Edward William Bruce, M.B.E., N.Z.C.B., is transferred to the Army Reserve, General List of Officers, in his present rank with effect from 16 September 1989.

Captain N.K. Gattsche, N.Z.C.D., to be acting Major with effect from 20 November 1989.
