Government Notice

Telford Rural Polytechnic Notice 1990

Pursuant to section 69 of the Education Act 1964, the Minister of Education gives the following notice:

Notice

  1. (a) This notice may be cited as the Telford Rural Polytechnic Notice 1990.

(b) This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette.

  1. There shall be a board of governors to be known as the Telford Rural Polytechnic Council which shall control the Telford Rural Polytechnic.

  2. The Telford Rural Polytechnic Council shall be constituted as follows:

    a. One member who shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Telford Rural Polytechnic.

    b. One member who shall represent the teaching staff of the Telford Rural Polytechnic and who shall be elected by the permanent (including permanent part-time) tutors employed by the council and who shall be a permanent (or permanent part-time) staff member employed by the council.

    c. One member who shall represent the permanent (including permanent part-time) ancillary staff of the Telford Rural Polytechnic and who shall be elected by the permanent (including permanent part-time) ancillary staff employed by the council and who shall be a permanent (or permanent part-time) staff member employed by the council.

    d.
    i. One member who shall be a student of the Telford Rural Polytechnic and who shall be elected by the students of the polytechnic.

     ii. The member appointed pursuant to sub-paragraph (i) of this paragraph shall hold office from the 1st day of February in the year, and if on that date the appointment of a successor has not been notified to the council that member shall continue to hold office until the date on which the appointment is notified.

    e. One member who shall be resident in the province of Otago appointed by the Ngāi Tahu Trust Board Inc.

    f. One member who shall be a resident of the Clutha District appointed by the National Council of Women of New Zealand Inc.

    g. Two members appointed by the Telford Farm Training Institute Board of Management constituted in terms of the Telford Farm Training Institute Act 1963.

    h. One member appointed by the Federated Farmers of New Zealand (Otago Provincial District) Inc.

    i. One member appointed by the Federated Farmers of New Zealand (Southland Provincial District) Inc.

    j. One member appointed by the Clutha District Council.

    k. Not more than four members co-opted by the council itself if and when it thinks fit in order to ensure a balanced representation of the interests in the polytechnic.

  3. (a) Subject to the provisions of this clause and to the provisions of clause 3 (d) of this notice every member first
