Return of the Governor-General from Overseas

His Excellency the Governor-General, the Most Reverend Sir Paul Reeves, G.C.M.G., G.C.V.O., accompanied by Her Excellency Lady Reeves and with members of the Household in attendance, returned to Wellington at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, 3 October from Australia, having completed an official visit to Sydney.

His Excellency has now resumed the performance of all the functions of the Office of Governor-General. Accordingly the Chief Justice of New Zealand, the Honourable Sir Thomas Eichelbaum, G.B.E., has relinquished office as the Administrator of the Government.
