Notification of the Lifting of a Restriction on the Use of Dead Game Birds as Decoys for the Purposes of Hunting or Killing any Game

Pursuant to section 18 (1) of the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Conservation hereby gives the following notice:

  1. (i) This notice may be cited as the Use of Dead Game Birds As Decoys Notice 1989.

(ii) This notice shall come into force 1 month after the date of its notification and shall remain in force until revoked by notification in the Gazette.

(iii) This notice shall apply throughout New Zealand.

  1. Hunters may, for the purpose of hunting or killing game, use dead game as decoys so placed or arranged as to simulate the appearance of live game.

  2. Where the Minister of Conservation has notified in the Open Season for Game Notice, a limit on the number of decoys that may be used by any person for the purposes of hunting or killing any game in any acclimatisation society district, the total number of artificial decoys plus the number of dead game used as decoys, must not exceed the notified limit for numbers of decoys applying for that district during the game season.

  3. Restrictions relating to the placement of artificial decoys listed in regulations 18 (2) and 18 (3) of the Wildlife Regulations 1955 shall also apply to the placement of dead game when used as decoys in the same way as if they were artificial decoys.

Pursuant to section 10 (2) of the Tariff Act 1988, the Secretary of Commerce gives the following notice.

1. Title and commencementβ€”(1) This notice may be cited as the Tariff (Statistical Requirements) Amendment Notice (No. 3) 1989.

(2) This notice shall come into force on the 1st day of October 1989.

2. Statistical requirements of certain Tariff items amendedβ€”The statistical requirements in relation to Tariff items 1904.10.09 and 1904.90.09 are hereby revoked and substituted by the statistical requirements specified in the Schedule to this notice.
