Judicature Act 1908

Appointments to the Rules Committee

Pursuant to the power vested in the Chief Justice of New
Zealand by subsection (2) of section 51B of the Judicature Act
1908, as enacted by section 4 of the Judicature Amendment
Act (No. 2) 1985, I hereby appoint

The Honourable Richard Ian Barker of Auckland, and
The Honourable John Anthony Doogue of Hamilton, both
Judges of the High Court of New Zealand, and

George Paterson Barton, Esquire, of Wellington, Barrister
to be members of the Rules Committee, to hold office for a
term of 3 years commencing on the 1st day of January 1989,
and

Edmund Walter Thomas, Esquire, of Auckland, one of Her
Majesty’s Counsel
to be a member of the Rules Committee, to hold office for a
term expiring on the 20th day of May 1990.

Appointment to the Rules Committee of a Member for a Special Purpose

Pursuant to subsection (3) of section 51B of the Judicature Act
1908, as enacted by section 4 of the Judicature Amendment
Act (No. 2) 1985, the Chief Justice of New Zealand has
appointed

John William Hansen, of Christchurch, a Master of the High
Court
to be a member of the Rules Committee, for the special
purpose of collating accumulated amendments to the High
Court Rules 1985, and of assimilating to the procedure
introduced by those Rules the procedure hitherto followed
under miscellaneous statutes other than the Judicature Act
1908.

notice is hereby given that the New Zealand Law Practitioners
Disciplinary Tribunal on the 31st day of October 1988,
ordered that the name of Donald Guy Turner of Tauranga,
barrister and solicitor, be struck off the Roll of Barristers and
the Roll of Solicitors of the High Court of New Zealand, and
further ordered that the said Donald Guy Turner pay to the
New Zealand Law Society the sum of one thousand seven
hundred and two dollars ($1,702.00) in respect of the costs
and expenses of and incidental to the inquiry by the Tribunal
and pay the sum of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) to the
Auckland District Law Society towards the costs and expenses
of and incidental to the inquiry by its District Council.
