Licensing Authorityβ€”Public Inquiry

To: Ian Charles Easton (the licensee).

And To: The Secretary for Transport.

And To: The New Zealand Railways Corporation.

Take notice that pursuant to section 141 of the Transport Act 1962, the Licensing Authority for the No. 7 Transport District will hold a public inquiry into the manner of operation of service conducted under Goods Service Licence No. 11893 to determine whether it is in the public interest that the licence should be revoked, suspended or varied.

The reason why the inquiry is to be conducted is that the Licensing Authority considers it expedient to do so, having regard to the seriousness of the offences committed in respect of the Transport Act 1962 and the provisions of the Road User Charges Act 1977, in respect of which the licensee has been convicted.

The public inquiry will be held at 10.30 a.m. on 21 June 1988 in the Courthouse, District Court, Bristol Street, Levin.

The licensee and the Secretary for Transport are entitled to appear and to be heard at the public inquiry and may be represented by a lawyer or other agent. Any of those persons or bodies may seek further information regarding the inquiry from the undersigned.

The inquiry may proceed in your absence.

Dated at Wellington this 6th day of May 1988.

J. MOIR, Secretary.
