Return of the Governor-General from Overseas

His Excellency the Governor-General, the Most Reverend Sir Paul Reeves, GCMG, GCVO, accompanied by Her Excellency Lady Reeves, and with members of the Household in attendance returned to Wellington at 5.20 p.m. on Thursday, 5 May from Papua New Guinea, having completed an official visit to South Pacific countries.

His Excellency has now resumed the performance of all the functions of the Office of Governor-General. Accordingly, the Chief Justice of New Zealand, the Right Honourable Sir Ronald Davison, GBE, CMG, has relinquished office as the Administrator of the Government.
