New Zealand Railways Corporation Act 1981

Scale of Charges

Pursuant to the New Zealand Railways Corporation Act 1981, the General Manager of the New Zealand Railways Corporation hereby makes the following alterations and additions to the Scales of Charges and the rates, charges, terms and conditions contained in the General Scales of Charges, published in the Supplement dated the 24th day of March 1982, to the New Zealand Gazette of the 18th day of March 1982, and hereby declares that such alterations and additions shall come into force on the 24th April 1988.

Clause 18.4 of section II of the General Scale of Charges is hereby revoked and the following new clause substituted therefor:

Department of Social Welfare Act 1971

Appointment of Member to the Social Welfare Commission

The Minister of Social Welfare has been pleased to appoint:

David Anthony Preston

to the Social Welfare Commission in terms of section 7A (2) (b) (i) of the Department of Social Welfare Act 1971, for as long as he remains an officer of the Department of Social Welfare appointed under section 29 of the State Services Act 1962.

Mr Preston replaces Mr John Yuill who has resigned from the Department.

Biographical Details

Mr David Preston is Assistant Director-General in the Department of Social Welfare and is responsible for policy and development. He has a B.A., Accounting Professional qualifications and an M.COM. (Economics) from Victoria University. Much of David Preston’s career has been with the Treasury, but from 1967–1970 he acted as Economist with the International Monetary Fund in Washington and from 1980–84 with Deputy Permanent Representative with the New Zealand Delegation to the OECD, Paris.
