  • Black swan (area B) | 7 May to 5 June 1988 incl.
  • Canada goose (area A1) | 7 May to 27 November 1988 incl.

  • Canada goose (areas B,C) | 7 May to 25 September 1988 incl.
  • Canada goose (area D) | 4 February to 30 April 1989 incl.

Definition of Areas

  • Area A: All that area west of State Highway No. 1
  • Area A1: All that area west of State Highway No. 1 excluding the floodbed of the Waitaki River to the Waitaki Dam.
  • Area B: All that area east of State Highway No. 1
  • Area C: The floodbed of the Waitaki River from the Waitaki Dam to the sea.
  • Area D: All that area west of Waitaki Dam.

  • Mallard duck, 25
  • Paradise shelduck, 10
  • Pukeko, 5
  • Black swan, 5
  • Canada goose, no limit
  • California quail, 10

Grey, shoveler, and mallard duck and paradise shelduck aggregate limits, 30 in all.

Shooting hours: 7.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. except that during the period 31 July 1988 to 30 April 1989 incl. Canada goose may be hunted or killed 24 hours per day during the specified open season.

Decoy limit: Wainono Lagoon, 25; rest of district, no limit

  • Area B: All that part of the Taieri River catchment upstream from Hindon outside area A; all that part of the Shag River catchment above Dunback; that part of the Manuherikia River catchment outside area A; that part of the Clutha River catchment east of the Clutha River from Cromwell Gorge to Beaumont; and the Waikouaiti catchment upstream from Bucklands Crossing.
  • Area C: The Waikaia River catchment; the Pomahaka River catchment upstream from Conical Hills; the Waipori River catchment upstream from Waipori Falls township; that part of the Clutha River catchment to the west of the Clutha River from Cromwell Gorge to Beaumont; and the Waikaka River catchment upstream from Maitland.
