Camouflaged Rowboats

Pursuant to section 18 (1)(f)(vi) of the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Conservation approves persons to hunt or kill wildlife game within the acclimatisation districts named hereof, from unmoored camouflaged rowboats, subject to the conditions specified below.

Acclimatisation Districts of:

  • Bay of Islands
  • Hawera
  • Hauraki
  • Marlborough
  • Otago
  • Southern Lakes
  • Tauranga – applicable only to the estuarine waters of the Tauranga Harbour.
  • Waitaki Valley
  • Wellingtion – applicable only for that remaining period of the open season for game in the District, commencing 9 May 1988.
  • Whangarei
  • Hobson
  • Mangonui-Whangaroa
  • Nelson
  • Southland

Conditions

  1. These approvals shall not derogate from the principal conditions specified for each acclimatisation district under the Second Schedule, which shall apply.

  2. These approvals will expire at the end of the open season for game specified under the Second Schedule for each acclimatisation district.

Game That May be Hunted or Killed

Duration of 1988 Season

  • Grey, shoveler and mallard duck: 7 May to 3 July 1988 incl.
  • Paradise shelduck: 7 May to 3 July 1988 incl.
  • Pukeko: 7 May to 3 July 1988 incl.
  • Black swan: 7 May to 3 July 1988 incl.
  • California and brown quail: 7 May to 3 July 1988 incl.
  • Cock pheasant: 7 May to 3 July 1988 incl.

Daily Bag Limits

  • Grey duck: 15
  • Shoveler duck: 15
  • Mallard duck: 15
  • Paradise shelduck: 5
  • Pukeko: 10
  • Black swan: 2
  • California and brown quail: no limit
  • Cock pheasant: 5

Grey, shoveler and mallard duck aggregate limits: 15 in all

Shooting hours: 6.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Decoy limit: No limit

Special Condition

  1. No person shall wilfully leave on the hunting ground the bodies or parts of bodies of black swan or other game shot in this district.
