Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resignations, and Retirements of Officers of the Royal New Zealand Navy

Pursuant to section 35 of the Defence Act 1971, His Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Naval Forces.

ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVY

The appointment of Commander D. A. Cootes is extended until 15 July 1991.

Commander J. E. R. Granville is appointed Assistant Provost Marshal of the RNZN with effect from 19 September 1988, vice Lieutenant G. A. Rees.

The appointment of Chaplain P. D. Bean, L.TH., is extended until 20 May 1992.

Commander Wayne Robert Linn, B.E.M., is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserves until 7 October 1990, with effect from 8 October 1988.

The appointment of Lieutenant Commander I. D. C. Ross is extended until 31 August 1991.

Chaplain Geoffrey Vivian Lowther Broad (Roman Catholic), is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserves until 11 July 1991, with effect from 12 November 1988.

The appointments of the following Lieutenant Commanders are extended until the date shown:

• C. M. Pile, 15 January 1993.
• D. G. Pringle, 30 June 1992.

Lieutenant Commander Harold Richard Gratton, B.SC., DIP.ED., DIP.TCHG., is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserves until 25 November 1992, with effect from 26 November 1988.

The appointment of Lieutenant Commander K. M. Mutch, M.B.E., is extended until 29 March 1992.

Lieutenant Commander C. L. Campbell, M.B.E., to be temporary Commander with effect from 26 September 1988.

Surgeon Lieutenant Commander J. R. Monigatti, B.SC., M.B., CH.B., to be Surgeon Commander with seniority and effect from 5 September 1988.

Lieutenant Commander Hugh Francis Wolfensohn, B.A. (OXON.), is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserves until 15 November 1992, with effect from 16 November 1988.

Winston Ravindra Gunanayagam, (Sri Lankan Navy Rtd), is appointed to the RNZN in the rank of Lieutenant Commander (on prob.), with seniority and effect from 31 October 1988; terminating on 30 October 1990.

Temporary Lieutenant Commander K. E. Hutton, N.Z.C.E. (CIV.), to be Lieutenant Commander with seniority and effect from 1 May 1988.

Lieutenant G. A. Rees, LL.B., to be temporary Lieutenant Commander with effect from 26 September 1988, and Lieutenant Commander with seniority and effect from 6 October 1988.

Lieutenant M. J. Eskrick to be temporary Lieutenant Commander with effect from 27 June 1988.

The appointments of the following are extended until the date shown:

• Temporary Lieutenant Commander H. B. Johnson, N.Z.C.E.(MECH.), 16 September 1999.
• Temporary Lieutenant Commander C. R. Lawrence, 6 November 1997.
• Lieutenant A. N. Forsyth, 19 February 1996.

The appointment of Surgeon Lieutenant (on prob.) D. J. Souter, M.B., CH.B., B.SC., to the RNZN is confirmed.

Francis John Edward Gillies, (RN Rtd), is appointed to the RNZN in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 11 July 1985 and effect from 9 September 1988; terminating on 17 October 1999.

Laurence George Milton is re-appointed to the RNZN in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 10 December 1981 and effect from 3 October 1988; terminating on 14 August 2001.

Temporary Chaplain Class III Peter Anthony Collett, (Roman Catholic), RNZChD, (TF), is appointed to the RNZN in the rank of Chaplain Class IV (on prob.), with seniority from 1 November 1982 and effect from 1 November 1988; terminating on 31 October 1992.

The appointment of Sub Lieutenant Michael James Gibson is terminated with effect from 2 November 1988.

The following Sub Lieutenants to be Lieutenant with seniority and effect from the date shown:

• P. W. Kempster, 1 December 1988.
• A. G. Nuttall, 1 October 1983.

Temporary Lieutenant N. T. S. Quinn to be Lieutenant with seniority and effect from 15 October 1988.

Lieutenant Commander D. J. Hawkins, V.R.D., is transferred to the Special Service List of the RNZNVR until 16 October 1990, with effect from 17 October 1988.

The appointment of Lieutenant (on prob.) Robert Anthony Graham lapses with effect from 4 October 1988.

EMERGENCY LIST OF OFFICERS OF THE NAVAL RESERVES

Lieutenant L. G. Milton is re-appointed to the Active List of the RNZN with effect from 3 October 1988.

Lieutenant Timothy Robert Turner, B.SC., is re-appointed to the Active List of the RNZN until 28 February 1989, with seniority from 17 April 1985 and effect from 17 November 1988.
