Notes:

  1. The Government’s decisions on the Apparel Tariff and Access Review, announced on 11 August 1988, mean that 19 global tender categories will move to global licence on demand and exemption from Australia on 1 July 1989.

  2. This has necessitated a regrouping of some goods into tender categories which differ from those which were tendered in the 1988 round. In addition, the CER Apparel Arrangement provides for the broadbanding of apparel into 25 tender categories only for the 1989 round and this, too, has resulted in some changes to the composition of tender categories.

  3. The new composite categories which are different from those in the 1988 round are as follows:

  • G981 (made up of G950, G951, G952, G953, G955)
  • G982 (made up of G954, G901, [C40.055])
  • G983 (made up of G905, G911, G926, G930, G945)
  • G984 (made up of G920, G923, G933, G934, G936, G938, G939)
  • G985 (made up of G943, G947)
  • G986 (made up of G929, G931)

N.B.: Category G973 which was tendered in Round 53, remains the same, being made up of G912 and G924.

  1. The following tender groups were included in composite tender groups for the 1988 ANZCERTA Apparel Round—Round 53, but are now tendered separately:

G906, G935, G937, G940, G941

  1. Of the categories listed in paragraph 3, the following contain solely garment types which become exempt from import licensing control on 1 July 1989 for goods of Australian origin:

G981, G983, G984, G985

N.B.: The above are the only categories which include goods moving to exemption from Australia on 1 July 1989.

  1. Tender licence holders who have taken up the offer of continuity licence from the 1988 CER apparel round will receive licence in the same tender categories, which will be available for the same goods, as in 1988.
