Justice Notices

15 SEPTEMBER NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE 3645

(ii) Prolonged anal coitus is shown and other anal sexual activity;

(iii) Multiple sex is depicted;

(iv) At a time when safe sex practices are being actively promoted, the video negates such a promotion.

(e) Although in almost all the scenes the sexual activity involves willing consenting adults and the women express pleasure (albeit in a banal manner with such expressions as "this is so nice", "dig deeper", "my pussy is so hot" and "don’t stop"), women are nevertheless denigrated in that the overall impression is that it is the males who are being pleasured. The frequent scenes of ejaculation with the request by the men to "come on clean it up" places women in a denigrating subservient position. In addition in some of the anal sex scenes the women actors appear reluctant to indulge in the activity and exhibit discomfort and anguish, again placing them in a subservient position by making them appear willing to indulge in an activity solely for a male’s pleasure.

(g) The dialogue consisted of mainly three to four word sentences interspersed with long silences. Comments such as "you suck so nicely", "love your tits", "I need a hole", "top floor here we come", "does it taste sweet" are typical of the dialogue used throughout. The background music is unremarkable.

  1. In considering the classification of the video all members expressed concern at the unreality of many of the sexual activities. The video could give very false impressions of sexual relationships to those persons inexperienced in sexual activity. The emphasis on prolonged anal coitus giving the impression that it is a harmless and a commonly acceptable sexual practice is also of concern.

It is recognised that other sexually explicit videos are available but the extreme close up shots obtained, the sophisticated cinematography that is used and the emphasis on anal sexual activity type places this video apart from other videos of a similar type.

  1. The board is of the unanimous view that for the reasons outlined above the sexual activity depicted in the video is injurious to the public good and should be classified as indecent.
