Engineers Registration Amendment Act 1944

Exempting the Greymouth Borough Council from the Provisions of Section 8 of the Engineers Registration Amendment Act 1944

Pursuant to section 9 of the Engineers Registration Amendment Act 1944, the Minister of Trade and Industry, acting on the recommendation of the Engineers Registration Board hereby exempts the Greymouth Borough Council from the prohibition on a local authority employing as its engineer a person who is not the holder of an annual practising certificate issued under section 3 of the Act, for the period 1 April 1988 to 31 March 1989, subject to the following conditions:

1. The exemption applies to work prepared and supervised under the direct control of Mike Ambika Prasad, being work not exceeding $1.5 million for the period of the exemption.

2. The Greymouth Borough Council shall ensure that consulting engineers employed to undertake supplementary engineering works are made directly responsible to the Council.

3. This exemption shall cease in the event of the Greymouth Borough Council being amalgamated into a District Council.
