TARIFF INDUSTRY ASSISTANCE (DECISION) NOTICE NO. 1987/21

Decisions of the Minister of Customs in respect of Part I and Part II of the Customs Tariff

Notice is hereby given that the following decisions have been made in respect of the goods published in the Schedules to this notice.

SCHEDULE 2 – Decisions cancelled

The cancellations listed in this schedule take effect seven days from Gazette date unless otherwise specified, eg, WEF (date).

SCHEDULE 3 – Limited Decisions

(a) Approvals given under Schedule 3 are restricted to the applicant for whom the approval was originally given and are not available for general use.

This notice only serves to inform the importing/manufacturing community of the approvals existence.

(b) Schedule 3 and 4 will not be published in the Consolidated List of Decisions.

4 It should be noted that any concession or determination can be subject to amendment or cancellation by notification in the Gazette.

5 Where the month of the start date and end date is shown the day of the start date is the first day of that month and the day of the end date is the last day of that month - eg, 3/84 to 9/86 is 1/3/84 to 30/9/86.

Cutting at 90°, flat bar up to 280mm wide x 175mm high
Cutting at 45°, round bar capacity up to 130mm diameter
Cutting at 45°, flat bar up to 130mm wide x 175mm high
(2) Automatically controlled bandsaws
(3) Box and pan folders, hand operated
(4) Buffing and contact grinding machines, not exceeding 304.8mm wheel diameter and 508mm belt width
(5) Chain saw sharpeners
(6) Drill presses, bench or floor mounting column type, belt driven, excluding power feed types
(7) Drill presses, wall mounting, radial type not exceeding 22.22 capacity in mild steel. (Multi-purpose or composite machines, incorporating this function fall within this Determination)
(8) Dualform hydraulic press with facility to cast its own tools models 5B, 6, 7, 8 and 9
(9) Machinery, peculiar for use in masking and repairing exhaust systems and other products made from metal tubing, not exceeding the following capacity:
swaging, 19mm - 76mm;
expanding, 25mm - 76mm;
bending, 16mm - 76mm; and
forming bends of 60mm - 140mm radii
EXCLUDING:
Numerically controlled machine tools
(10) Metal circular saws hand operated with blades not exceeding 101.6mm diameter excluding types specially suited for cutting precious metals
(11) Metalworking guillotines and shears, excluding:
(a) 702mm power operated guillotines especially suited for use in the photo-processing and engraving grade for cutting zinc, magnesium and copper sheets
(b) Reinforced steel bar cropping machines, with capacity exceeding 20mm
(c) Types with a straight cutting edge of 105mm or less
(12) Metal Hacksaws with a rated square material cutting capacity of which any one measurement is 250mm or less, excluding automatically controlled hacksaws
(13) Plate rolls and press brakes (including coil cradle straighteners)
