Customs Exchange Rates Notice (No. 18) 1987

Pursuant to section 143 of the Customs Act 1966, the Comptroller of Customs, in accordance with the power delegated to him by the Minister of Customs under section 9 of that Act, hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. Short title and commencement—
    (1) This notice may be cited as the Customs Exchange Rates Notice (No. 18) 1987.
    (2) This notice shall come into force on the 31st day of August 1987.

  2. Exchange rates—Where under any provisions of the Customs Act 1966 any amount which is required to be taken into account for the purpose of assessing duty or any other purpose is not an amount in New Zealand currency, the amount to be so taken into account shall be the equivalent in New Zealand currency of that amount ascertained in accordance with the rate of exchange set out in the Schedule to this notice.

  3. Revocation—The Customs Exchange Rates Notice (No. 17) 1987, published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 128, dated 6 August 1987 on page 3731 is hereby revoked.

Life Insurance Act 1908—Proposed Release of Deposit

The Superannuation and Mutual Savings Limited (hereinafter called “the company”) has given notice to the public trustee that it has ceased to carry on in New Zealand the business of life insurance and that pursuant to section 19 of such Act, proposes to withdraw the deposit which has been made by it with the public trustee.

The public trustee therefore gives notice, pursuant to section 12 of such Act, that being satisfied that all liabilities of the company in New Zealand in respect of such insurance business have been provided for, he proposes to release the company on or after 20 September 1987, the deposit made by it.

Any objections to the release of the deposit should be lodged with the District Public Trustee, 117–129 Lambton Quay, Wellington, on or before 20 September 1987.

Insurance Companies’ Deposits Act 1953—Proposed Release of Deposit

The Alexander and Alexander (NZ) Limited (herein called “the company”) has given notice to the public trustee that it has ceased to carry on in New Zealand the class of insurance business designated as class 4 in the First Schedule to the above-mentioned Act and that it proposes to withdraw, pursuant to section 19 of such Act, the deposit which has been made by it with the public trustee.

The public trustee therefore gives notice, pursuant to section 19 (3) of the above-mentioned Act, that being satisfied that all liabilities of the company in New Zealand in respect of such class 4 insurance business have been fully liquidated, he proposes to release to the company, on or after 6 November 1987, the amount deposited with him by the company.

Any objections to the release of the amount deposited should be lodged with the District Public Trustee, at the Public Trust Office, 117–129 Lambton Quay, Wellington, on or before 31 October 1987.
