A Right of Way Easement to be Acquired for Soil Conservation and River Control Purposes in Block IV, Wairarapa Survey District, Featherston County

PURSUANT to section 20 of the Public Works Act 1981, the Minister of Works and Development declares that, an agreement to that effect having been entered into, a right of way easement over the land described in the Schedule hereto, vesting in the Wairarapa Catchment Board the rights and powers contained in paragraph 1 of the Seventh Schedule to the Land Transfer Act 1952, is hereby acquired for soil conservation and river control purposes on the 10th day of April 1986.

PURSUANT to section 20 of the Public Works Act 1981, the Minister of Works and Development declares that, an agreement to that effect having been entered into, the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby acquired for road and shall vest in the Crown on the 10th day of April 1986 and pursuant to section 11 (1A) of the National Roads Act 1953 shall form part of State Highway No. 2.

State Forest Land Set Apart as a Dedicated Area—Heaphy Ecological Area—Nelson Conservancy

PURSUANT to section 15 of the Forests Act 1949, the Minister of Forests hereby gives notice that the land described in the First, Second and Third Schedules hereto shall be set apart for the various purposes respectively described hereto and shall be known as the Heaphy Ecological Area:

(a) the land described in the First Schedule hereto is hereby set apart and dedicated for ecological purposes and for the protection of the natural environment and native wildlife and for scientific purposes;

(b) the land described in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby set apart and dedicated for amenity purposes, namely to provide a source for the supply of firewood and for the re-establishment of vegetation for future fuel supplies to the huts on the Heaphy Track as defined in the Third Schedule hereto;

(c) the land described in the Third Schedule hereto is hereby set apart and dedicated for recreational purposes, namely as a walking track, together with the amenity purposes of providing huts and shelters and bridges, the maintenance upgrading and realignment of which may be carried out as and when necessary.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

THE Heaphy Ecological Area will preserve and protect the forests of the Heaphy River catchment, including the coastline forests north from the mouth of the Heaphy River to Rocks Point. The land contained in the Second Schedule and dedicated for amenity purposes to provide firewood for huts on the Heaphy Track is a semi-circular area behind MacKay hut. The land contained in the
