Notice by Commerce Commission of Clearances of Merger and Takeover Proposals

NOTICE is hereby given that the Commerce Commission has given clearance to the following merger and takeover proposals in terms of section 66 (3) (a) of the Commerce Act 1986.

Proposal

Aurora Group Ltd. or any of its nominated subsidiaries may acquire up to 100 percent of the shares in the capital of City Investments Ltd.

Mr C. L. Heatley and/or entities owned by him may acquire 100 percent of the capital of Rainbow Corporation Ltd.

Smart Group (NZ) Ltd. or a wholly owned subsidiary may acquire 100 percent of the issued shares in Landau Properties Ltd.

DFC Ventures Ltd. may acquire up to 50.1 percent in the issued share capital of Eastern Deer Corporation Ltd.

Acadia Corporation Ltd. may acquire all of the accommodation hotels owned, operated or franchised by Dominion Breweries Ltd. under the Quality Inns franchise

Wrightson NMA Ltd. may acquire up to 50 percent of the share capital of Clifton Wool Scour Ltd.

Wrightson NMA Ltd. may set up a new wholly owned subsidiary, John Marshall and Company Ltd. which will acquire all the assets of the wool buying/exporting business of John Marshall and Company Ltd. and R. J. MacKay Ltd.

PURSUANT to section 11 of the Plant Varieties Act 1973, notice is hereby given that applications for grants of Plant Selectors’ Rights as specified in the Schedule hereto, have been received by the Registrar of Plant Varieties. Protective Direction has not been applied for. If it is considered that any interested person will be unfairly affected by the applications, that person may lodge an objection with the Registrar within 2 months from the date of this Gazette.
