III ANZCERTA: RESIDUAL EXCLUSIVE AUSTRALIAN LICENCES (REALS)—INVITATION FOR APPLICATIONS

The above results show Residual amounts not taken up by tenderers; these amounts are available, at nil premium, upon request to the department in writing.

Applications, including the applicant’s importer code and the item code as given in the TEAL result should be addressed to:

IV CALL FOR 1987/88 MANUFACTURERS EXCLUSIVE AUSTRALIAN LICENCES (MEALS)

Applications are hereby invited for allocations of manufacturers exclusive Australian import licences in the 1987/88 licensing period. Licences are not reissued automatically to holders of 1986/87 licences: application is required.

Holders of MEALs in the current period were advised that the closing date for applications for the next period would be on 3 November 1986. It has now been decided however that the earlier system of allocating these licences in two stages will be abandoned, and replaced by a one stage procedure following the final calculation of MEAL amounts. The closing date for receipt of applications has therefore been fixed as 2 March 1987.

The allocation procedure will also be simplified by making applications dependent on evidence of usage. While applicants must of course meet the other criteria in the guidelines, approval will depend finally on evidence of usage.

Every application must therefore be accompanied by a photocopy of both sides of the MEAL held in 1985/86. If usage in that period was less than 75 percent, evidence of usage in the 1986/87 period can be added instead.

If you did not hold a MEAL in 1985/86, but held one in 1986/87, you can expect to receive the same amount plus an inflation factor, in 1987/88, provided some usage is evidenced.

Applications not accompanied by evidence of usage will not be considered.

Applicants are free to seek amounts greater than they received in 1986/87: these will be accommodated where possible.

New applicants are also invited and will be considered along with existing holders who seek larger amounts. They should provide all the information required in the guidelines.

ANZCERTA Calendar Year Licences

Applications are also invited for MEALs which are issued on the calendar year basis: these are carpets (Item Code 58.120) and sheets, plates, strips, etc., of vulcanised rubber, excluding rubber sheet soling (Item Code Ex 40.022).

Applications should be received in the department before 12 December 1986.
