Land Acquired for Soil Conservation and River Control Purposes in Block VIII, Waihou Survey District, Ohinemuri County

PURSUANT to section 20 of the Public Works Act 1981, the Minister of Works and Development declares that, agreements to that effect having been entered into, the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby acquired for soil conservation and river control purposes and shall vest in The Hauraki Catchment Board on the 2nd day of October 1986.

State Forest Land Set Apart as a Recreation Area—Mount Hutt Recreation Area—Canterbury Conservancy

PURSUANT to section 63A of the Forests Act 1949 (as substituted by section 19 of the Forests Amendment Act 1976), the Minister of Forests hereby sets apart the land described in the Schedule hereto as a recreation area for the purpose of public recreation.

Declaration of Easement Agreement Under the Forests Act 1949

PURSUANT to section 15 (2A) of the Forests Act 1949, the Minister of Forests being satisfied as to the sufficiency of such agreement hereby declares.

1. That an agreement in favour of Peter Sparhawk Bridgewater of Takaka, photographer, granting a right of way over the State forest land described in the Schedule hereto has been entered into between the said Peter Sparhawk Bridgewater as grantee and the Minister of Forests acting for and on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen as grantor.

2. That such agreement may be inspected at the office of the Conservator of Forests at Nelson, which agreement and the terms and conditions thereof are designated grant of easement in respect of right of way, north-west Nelson State Forest Park.

3. That a plan defining thereon the said easement is attached to such agreement and may be inspected at the above office.

4. That the date upon which such agreement became effective being the date of execution of the agreement is the first day of July 1986.

State Forest Land Set Apart as a Dedicated Area—Upper Hope Ecological Area—Canterbury Conservancy

PURSUANT to section 15 of the Forests Act 1949, (as inserted by section 2 of the Forests Amendment Act 1973, and amended by section 5 of the Forests Amendment Act 1976), the Minister of Forests hereby gives notice that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart and dedicated for the purposes of protection, maintenance, and management of trees and other plants, and for the protection of the natural environment and native wildlife, and for scientific purposes, especially ecological purposes. The area so dedicated will be known as Upper Hope Ecological Area.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The area encompasses a vegetation gradient from river flat scrub through mixed beech forest to subalpine scrub, snow tussock, fellfield and alpine barrens of the Main Divide. The occurrence of tree and scrub species normally associated with the wetter western side of the Divide is noteworthy, and the area represents a wide range of habitat for native and introduced fauna.

Classification of Reserve and Vesting in The Wallace County Council

PURSUANT to the Reserves Act 1977, and to a delegation from the Minister of Lands, the Deputy Commissioner of Crown Lands hereby classifies the reserve described in the Schedule hereto, as a local purpose (site for a public hall), reserve and council in trust for that purpose.

Classification of Reserve and Vesting in The Wallace County Council

PURSUANT to the Reserves Act 1977, and to a delegation from the Minister of Lands, the Deputy Commissioner of Crown Lands hereby classifies the reserve described in the Schedule hereto, as a recreation reserve, and vests the said reserve in The Wallace County Council in trust for that purpose.
