Timaru By-Election—Notifying Issue of Writ Date of Polling, Etc.
PURSUANT to a Warrant under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, dated the 10th day of May 1985 directed to the Clerk of the Writs, I have this day issued a writ to the Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Timaru authorising the Returning Officer to proceed to the election of a member of Parliament for that electoral district and have fixed Thursday, the 23rd day of May 1985 as the last day for the nomination of candidates, Saturday, the 15th day of June 1985, as the day upon which the poll for such election shall (if necessary) be taken, and Friday, the 5th day of July 1985, as the day on or before which the said writ shall be returnable to me.

PURSUANT to section 58 (9) of the Judicature Act 1908, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council and with the concurrence of the Chief Justice and the President of the Court of Appeal, has been pleased to appoint:
The Right Honourable Sir Clifford Parris Richmond, K.B.E., formerly President of the Court of Appeal,
to act as an additional Judge of the Court of Appeal for a period of 3 months commencing on the 6th day of May 1985.
