Pursuant to the Import Control Regulations 1973 (S.R. 1980/246) the Secretary of Trade and Industry, acting under delegated authority is calling tenders for the goods specified below. Tenders close on 18 February 1985 at 5 p.m. and must be received by the Registrar of Tenders by then to be valid.

Instructions for tenderers and the general terms and conditions which apply to the submission and acceptance of tenders are set out in the Guide to Licence Tendering dated November 1984. Tenders should be addressed to the Registrar of Tenders, P.O. Box 3146, Wellington, or be delivered by hand to the First Floor of the Bowen State Building, Wellington. Tenders for Round 20 should reach the Registrar no later than 5 p.m. on 18 February 1985.

NOTE:

  1. Tenderers should refer to the Customs Tariff and the Import Licensing Schedule for a definitive description of the goods included in the list above.

  2. Tenderers should be conversant with the various statutes and regulations which importing enterprises are obliged to comply with.

  3. Bids may be sent in one envelope. The envelope must be marked Import Licence Tender.

  4. Where two or more item codes are tendered under a single tender number, successful tenderers should nominate which item codes(s) the licence(s) should be issued under when payment is made. A new group has been created to cover a wide range of products. (Tender No. 2812). This is shown as Gp 823 and any licence issued will be for the full range of goods described.

  5. Bids under both Part (A) and Part (B) of the Call for Tenders should be entered on the buff bid form T&I 335C.

MOTOR VEHICLE INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT PLAN—1ST ALLOCATION

INTRODUCTION

  1. The Motor Vehicle Industry Development Plan, announced on 12 December 1984, provides for the tendering of a gradually increasing percentage of the local production of motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts and accessories over a period of 4 years.

  2. This is the first call for tenders under the Plan.

  3. The call is for tenders for built-up vehicles in 5 classes, and motor vehicle parts and accessories under a number of Item Codes.

  4. The value being tendered for vehicles up to 3500 kg GVW (gross vehicle weight), vehicles 3500—10 500 kg GVW, vehicles exceeding 10 500 kg GVW, and special purpose vehicles is a 6 month allocation. There will be a second call for tenders in July 1985.

  5. The value being tendered for omnibuses and motor vehicle parts and accessories is the total allocation for 1985.

SPECIAL ALLOCATION FOR AUSTRALIAN VEHICLES

  1. In addition to these allocations, there is a special allocation held exclusively for vehicles up to 3,500 kg GVW of Australian origin. (The criteria for "Australian origin" are contained in the Customs Regulations 1968, as amended). This is a special annual allocation, the value of which will be maintained in real terms over the 4 years of the Plan. It is emphasised that licence is available under this allocation only for vehicles of Australian origin.
