Environmental Impact Report Addenda Notified

Monowai/Mararato Gold Mining Proposal Crusader Minerals N.Z. Limited

On 12 and 14 April 1984 the Commission for the Environment notified and invited submissions on an Environmental Impact Report on the above project. On 18 May 1984 the company was asked to prepare and submit an Addendum to the EIR.

The Commission has now received this documentation which is in the form of separate Addenda for the Monowai and Mararoto sites. The Addenda are being audited by the Commission in accordance with the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Procedures 1981. The audit will be referred to the Ministry of Energy and the N.Z. Forest Service and a decision on the project will not be made until the audit has been considered. The audit will be published on or about 22 April 1985.

Written submissions are invited on the environmental implications of the proposals as described in the Addenda. (You are requested to use A4-sized paper and to ensure that handwritten submissions are legible and in dark ink.) Submissions should be addressed to the Commission for the Environment, P.O. Box 10-241, Wellington, and should reach the Commission before 5 p.m. on Friday, 1 March 1985.

Copies of the Addenda may be purchased for $10 each from Crusader Minerals New Zealand Limited at 586 Great South Road, Auckland, or P.O. Box 17-036, Green Lane, Auckland.

The report may be inspected at the following places:

  • Public libraries at Whangarei, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Greymouth, Dunedin and Alexandra.
  • Local libraries at Te Aroha, Morrinsville, Paeroa, Pauanui, Thames, Waihi and Whangamata.
  • The Commission for the Environment library (108 The Terrace, Wellington).
  • The 7 university libraries.
  • Local authority offices in the following places: Ohinemuri County Council—Paeroa; Thames-Coromandel County Council—Thames, Coromandel, Whitianga, Tairua, Whangamata; Waihi Borough Council—Waihi; Hauraki Plains County Council—Ngatea.
  • The General Stores at Hikutaia and Waiohomu.

Price Order No. 301 (Spanish Navel Oranges)

PURSUANT to the Commerce Act 1975, I, Wayne Eric Scanlan, pursuant to a delegation from the Secretary of Trade and Industry, hereby make the following price order:

  1. This order may be cited as Price Order No. 301 and shall come into force on the 21st day of January 1985.

  2. (1) Special Approval No. S. 322* is hereby revoked.
    (2) The revocation of the said order shall not affect the liability of any person for any offence in relation thereto committed before the coming into force of this order.

  3. References in this order to metropolitan areas are references to the metropolitan areas described in the Schedule hereto.

  4. This order applies with respect to all Spanish navel oranges sold by way of retail in New Zealand.

Maximum Retail Prices of Spanish Navel Oranges

  1. (1) The maximum price that may be charged or received by any retailer for any Spanish navel oranges to which this order applies shall be:

(a) When sold by a retailer carrying on business in any of the metropolitan areas of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, or in any of the Cities or Boroughs of Whangarei, Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua, Gisborne, New Plymouth, Stratford, Hawera, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Napier, Hastings, Masterton, Blenheim, Nelson, Greymouth, Timaru, Westport, Oamaru, Balclutha, Gore, Alexandra, or Invercargill—

$2.62 a kilogram.

(b) When sold by a retailer carrying on business elsewhere—

$2.64 a kilogram.

(2) If in respect of any lot of oranges the price calculated in accordance with the foregoing provisions of this clause is not an exact number of cents, the maximum price of the lot may be computed to the nearest whole cent.

Provisions for Special Prices

  1. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the foregoing provisions of this order, and subject to such conditions, if any, as he thinks fit, the Secretary, on application by any retailer, may authorise special maximum prices in respect of any Spanish navel oranges to which this order applies where special circumstances exist, or for any reason extraordinary charges (freight or otherwise) are incurred by the retailer. Any authority given by the Secretary under this clause may apply with respect to a specified lot or consignment of oranges, or may relate generally to all Spanish navel oranges to which this order applies sold by the retailer while approval remains in force.
