Governor-General Designate Appointed
The following statement has been made from Buckingham Palace, London:
"It is announced that The Queen, on the recommendation of Her Majesty's New Zealand Ministers, has been graciously pleased to approve the appointment of the Anglican Archbishop of New Zealand, The Most Reverend Paul Alfred Reeves, Bishop of Auckland, as Governor-General in succession to The Honourable Sir David Beattie, G.C.M.G., G.C.V.O., Q.C., who will retire on 10 November 1985. Archbishop Reeves has tendered, and the Anglican Bishops of New Zealand have accepted, his resignation from ecclesiastical offices to take effect from 30 September 1985."
