Disestablishment of Auckland Teachers Colleges

NOTICE is hereby given that pursuant to subsection (1) of section 106 of the Education Act 1964 the Auckland Teachers Colleges shall be disestablished on 1 January 1986.

Auckland College of Education Notice 1985

PURSUANT to sections 106 (1) and 67B of the Education Act 1964, the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice:

  1. This notice may be cited as the Auckland College of Education Notice 1985.

  2. This notice shall come into force on the 1st day of January 1986.

  3. There shall be established a Teachers College to be known as the Auckland College of Education.

  4. (1) The governing body of the Auckland College of Education shall be the Auckland Teachers Colleges Council which shall be known as the Council of the Auckland College of Education and shall comprise the following members:
    (a) The three Principals of the Auckland College of Education;
    (b) One officer of the Department of Education, appointed by the Minister;
    (c) Two members of the Auckland Education Board appointed by the Minister of Education on the nomination of the Auckland Education Board;
    (d) Two members appointed by the Minister of Education on the nomination of the Council of the University of Auckland;
    (e) Two members appointed by the Minister of Education on the nomination of the Northern Region of the New Zealand Secondary Schools Boards Association;
    (f) One member to be appointed by the Minister of Education on the nomination of the National Executive of the New Zealand Educational Institute;
    (g) One member to be appointed by the Minister of Education on the nomination of the Executive of the New Zealand Post Primary Teachers' Association;
    (h) One member to be appointed by the Minister of Education on the joint nomination of the New Zealand Free Kindergarten Union and the New Zealand Free Kindergarten Teachers' Association;
    (i) Three members each being a member of the academic staff of the Auckland College of Education, elected by the academic staff of all the schools within the College;
    (j) Three members, each being a student of the Auckland College of Education, elected by the students of all the schools within the College;
    (k) One member appointed by the Minister of Education on the nomination of the Council of the Auckland College of Education after consultation with groups concerned with social work, community work and youth work;
    (l) One member appointed by the Minister of Education on the nomination of the Council of the Auckland College of Education after consultation with groups concerned with the Maori community;
    (m) One member appointed by the Minister of Education on the nomination of the Council of the Auckland College of Education after consultation with groups concerned with the Pacific Islands Community.
