Appointments to the Rules Committee

Pursuant to subsection (2) of section 51B of the Judicature Act 1908 as enacted by section 4 of the Judicature Amendment Act (No. 2) 1985 the Chief Justice of New Zealand has appointed

The Honourable Richard Ian Barker of Auckland, and The Honourable Johann Thomas Eichelbaum of Wellington, both Judges of the High Court of New Zealand,
Edmund Walter Thomas, Esquire, of Auckland, one of Her Majesty's Counsel, and
John Anthony Doogue, Esquire, of Nelson, Barrister

to be members of the Rules Committee, to hold office for the term of 3 years commencing on the 1st day of January 1986.

Appointments to the Rules Committee of Members for a Special Purpose

Robert Andrew McGechan, Esquire, of Wellington, one of Her Majesty's Counsel and
George Paterson Barton of Wellington, Barrister

to be members of the Rules Committee, for the special purpose of collating accumulated amendments to the High Court Rules 1985 and of assimilating to the procedure introduced by those Rules the procedure hitherto followed under miscellaneous statutes other than the Judicature Act 1908.

Appointment to the Medical Research Council of New Zealand

Pursuant to section 4 (1) of the Medical Research Council Act 1956 (as amended by section 3 (1) of the Medical Research Council Amendment Act 1965 and by section 2 of the Medical Research Council Amendment Act 1981), His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint:

James Kempster Guthrie, B.A., L.L.B.

as a member of the Medical Research Council of New Zealand for a term of 3 years, commencing 1 October 1984.

Tobacco Board Election Regulations 1975—Election of Tobacco Manufacturers' Representative for Appointment as a Member of the Tobacco Board

Pursuant to regulation 8 (5) of the Tobacco Board Election Regulations 1975, I hereby declare

David John Weaver to be elected and deemed nominated by the New Zealand Tobacco Manufacturers' Federation (Incorporated) for appointment by the Minister of Trade and Industry, as a manufacturers' representative to the Tobacco Board for the purpose of section 4 (1) of the Tobacco Growing Industry Act 1974.
