WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND FOR SERVICE LANE
AT 151–155 RIDDIFORD STREET, NEWTOWN
Notice is hereby given that the Wellington City Council proposes to take the land described below for service lane, being an essential work, pursuant to section 23 of the Public Works Act 1981.
The registered proprietors of the land to be taken are Thakor Lakha Vasan and Manju Thakor Vasan and the registered mortgagee is GAULT MITCHELL NOMINEES LIMITED.
The land is the rear part of the property known as 151–155 Riddiford Street and comprises 111 square metres, being parts of certificate of title 2C/557 (Wellington Registry), depicted as areas A, D, and G, on S.O. Plans 34227.
The land is required as a final step in the creation of a Council designated service lane running north from Wilson Street, Newtown, along the rear of properties known as 151–161 Riddiford Street, as shown on the S.O. Plan. The Council has reached agreement to acquire the balance of the land (areas B, C, E, and F) on the plan, and has already acquired the land in the adjoining title 401/60 (S.O. 11103), and it is essential to acquire these final portions of land to achieve the Council’s plan for rear-servicing of properties fronting Riddiford Street, which is a heavily-trafficked main suburban road.
Any person having an estate or interest in the land, or any other person, may object pursuant to sections 23 (3) and 23 (1) (b) of the Act respectively, to the taking of the land, by lodging a written objection to the Registrar of the Planning Tribunal, Tribunals Division, Justice Department, Private Bag, Wellington postal centre, within 20 working days of the date of the first publication of this notice, namely the 21st day of November 1985.
If in doubt over your rights, please consult a solicitor immediately. A plan of the land which the Council proposes to take is available for free inspection during normal office hours at the office of the City Solicitor, Seventh Floor, Municipal Office Buildings, Mercer Street, Wellington.
Dated at Wellington this 14th day of November 1985.
D. NIVEN, Town Clerk.
