Assumption of Office by the Administrator of the Government
THE Right Honourable Sir Ronald Keith Davison, G.B.E., C.M.G., the Chief Justice of New Zealand, having taken on the 18th day of November 1983, the first occasion on which he was required to act as Administrator of the Government, the oaths directed to be taken by the Governor-General, announces—
(a) That, as from 2.00 p.m. on the 10th day of November 1985, he has, following the departure from New Zealand of The Honourable Sir David Stuart Beattie, G.C.M.G., G.C.V.O., Q.S.O., Q.C., the Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over New Zealand, assumed, under clause XII of the Letters Patent constituting the office of Governor-General, the office of Administrator of the Government; and
(b) That, consequent on the office of Governor-General becoming vacant, as from the close of the 10th day of November 1985, with the revocation by Her Majesty of the Commission appointing the said Sir David Stuart Beattie to be Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over New Zealand, he, the said Sir Ronald Keith Davison, has continued and is continuing in office, under clause XII of the Letters Patent constituting the office of Governor-General, as Administrator of the Government. (By Command).
