NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND FOR ROAD IN THE CITY OF WAITEMATA
NOTICE is given that the Waitemata City Council proposes, under the provisions of the Public Works Act 1981, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for road, such land to be used for the completion of the construction of Central Park Drive from its existing formation to Lincoln Road.
The proposed taking is considered essential for the following reasons:
(a) The property is an integral part of the industrially zoned land lying between Lincoln Road and Henderson Creek. The development of this area for industrial purposes is an important factor in the described commercial and industrial growth of the city.
(b) The development of the area requires the provision of further roading for frontage and access purposes and the road is required as part of the primary roading network to serve the district.
(c) The location of the junction of the proposed road with Lincoln Road is of critical importance in relation to the other major intersection, the motorway and because of the existing high and projected traffic flows in the area.
(d) The location of the proposed road is shown on the Operative District Scheme and the junction of it with Lincoln Road is on the road frontage of the land to be taken.
(e) The intention of providing for the proposed road has been shown on the council’s district schemes since 1969.
(f) The road is constructed to within the property adjacent to yours. Presently it is longer than 1 km in length and cannot function satisfactorily as a cul-de-sac. Furthermore, access to it from the motorway intersection is a distance of more than 2 km whereas completion of it through the property will make its intersection with Lincoln Road about 500 metres from the motorway. It is urgent that this situation is remedied by the taking of the land.
Any person having an estate or interest in the land may within 20 working days after the date of this notice, make an objection to the Planning Tribunal at Wellington. If any objection is made in accordance with this notice, a public hearing will be held, unless the objector otherwise requires, and each objector will be informed at the time and place of the hearing.
SCHEDULE
