29.3 Addressing and advance presentation
Dogs must bear a label showing distinctly the name and full address of the consignee and the
destination point and, except when accompanying passengers, must be delivered to the Cor-
poration and consigned not less than 30 minutes before the due time of departure of the service
by which they are to be forwarded.

29.4 Confining of dog
The Corporation reserves the right to require that any dog presented for carriage shall be effi-
ciently muzzled or confined in a cage, box or other suitable receptacle so as to prevent such dog
from biting any person. The Corporation shall not be liable for the loss of any dog if such loss
arises directly or indirectly from any tendency on the part of such dog to bite any person.

29.5 Tethering
Dogs not secured in hampers, crates, or boxes must be provided with efficient chains and collars,
or other suitable means of tether. Dogs in hampers, crates, or boxes must be properly secured
so as to prevent damage to other goods.

29.6 Dogs accompanying passengers
Except for guide dogs accompanying a blind person, passengers accompanied by dogs must con-
sign the dog at least 15 minutes before the due time of departure of the service except that when
the journey is by rail and commenced from a station at which there are no booking facilities
the passenger shall arrange the consignment with the guard. Owners must see their dogs safely
placed on the service.

29.7 Rail accommodation
With the exception of guide dogs accompanying blind persons, dogs will be conveyed by pas-
senger trains only when there is sufficient space or facilities in the guard's van for their accom-
modation and shall not be allowed in carriages.

29.8 Corporation's liability
The Corporation shall not be liable for loss when a dog, whether accompanied by a passenger
or consigned, escapes through the slipping of the collar or the breakage of the chain, collar, or
such other means of tether by which it is secured.

β€œ31. NEWSPAPERS, PERIODICALS, ADVERTISING CIRCULARS AND STEREOTYPE
CASTS

31.1 Charges
Newspapers, periodicals and advertising circulars shall be conveyed at the following rates:

31.1.1 Bulk consignments: Packages of newspapers, periodicals and advertising circulars shall
be charged at the rate of 18 cents per kilogram intra-island, 29 cents per kilogram inter-island
on the gross weight forwarded by the same consignor irrespective of the distance the packages
are consigned, provided that they are accompanied by a manifest showing the number of pack-
ages for each destination and the total weight of the whole consignment and subject to the
following minimum quantities:

Periodicals and advertising circulars .. .. .. .. .. 4 tonnes each 4 weeks

31.1.2 Small consignments: Newspapers, periodicals and advertising circulars not complying with
the minima prescribed above and also stereotype casts and type set up for reproduction purposes
and consigned by or to newspaper or periodical printers and publishers, shall be carried at the
following rates with charges being computed separately for each package:
