Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resignations,
and Retirements of Officers of the Royal New Zealand Navy

PURSUANT to section 35 of the Defence Act 1971, His Excellency
the Governor-General has approved the following appointments,
promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of
officers of the Royal New Zealand Naval Forces.

ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVY

The appointment of Lieutenant Commander N. St J. Morley-Hall
is extended to 17 September 1987.

Lieutenant Commander Noel Davies is placed on the Emergency
List of Officers of the Naval Reserves until 14 August 1987, with
effect from 15 August 1985.

Lieutenant Commander Dennis George Pringle is placed on the
Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserves until 16 August
1987, with effect from 17 August 1985.

Lieutenant (temp. Lieutenant Commander) S. G. Ebrey to be
Lieutenant Commander with seniority and effect from 29 July 1985.

Lieutenant (temp. Lieutenant Commander) B. M. Gordon to be
Lieutenant Commander with seniority and effect from 29 July 1985.

Lieutenant R. W. Pettis to be Lieutenant Commander with
seniority and effect from 29 July 1985.

Lieutenant L. H. J. Rayner to be Lieutenant Commander with
seniority and effect from 1 August 1985.

Lieutenant (temp. Lieutenant Commander) D. J. Smith, N.Z.C.E.
(H.V. & A.C.), to be Lieutenant Commander with seniority and effect
from 1 August 1985.

Lieutenant (temp. Lieutenant Commander) Stephen Humphries
is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserves
until 18 August 1989, with effect from 19 August 1985.

The appointment of Lieutenant (temp. Lieutenant Commander)
J. C. O’Donnell, B.E.M., is extended to 1 October 1991.

Lieutenant (temp. Lieutenant Commander) Jeffrey Cameron
Kennedy, B.SC.(HONS.), is placed on the Emergency List of Officers
of the Naval Reserves until 21 July 1989, with effect from 22 July
1985.

Lieutenant W. R. S. Johnston, B.E.(ELECT.), to be temp. Lieutenant
Commander with effect from 30 April 1985.

Lieutenant Ian Ross Logan is placed on the Emergency List of
Officers of the Naval Reserves until 24 July 1989, with effect from
25 July 1985.

Lieutenant C. A. Holmes: the notice published in the Gazette, 20
June 1985, No. 116, page 2602, is cancelled.

Sub Lieutenant (temp. Lieutenant) Michael Alan Aitken Hawkins,
B.E.(MECH.), is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval
Reserves until 16 August 1989, with effect from 17 August 1985.

Sub Lieutenant S. M. Rennie, B.SC., to be temp. Lieutenant with
effect from 21 July 1985.

The appointment of Sub Lieutenant D. W. Adlam, B.TECH., is
extended to 9 January 1993.

The appointment of Sub Lieutenant C. J. Bruce is extended to 9
January 1993.

Sub Lieutenant O. M. B. A. Kelderman: the notice published in
the Gazette, 9 May 1985, No. 85, page 2080, is cancelled.

The appointment of Midshipman (acting Ensign) Jean-Benoit
Pierre Marie Zegers is terminated with effect from 25 June 1985.

ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVAL RESERVE

The seniority of Lieutenant Commander A. R. Bailie is ante-dated
to 19 February 1985, and his appointment is extended to 24
December 1990.

ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVAL VOLUNTEER RESERVE

The appointment of Lieutenant Commander J. R. J. Lillico, V.R.D.,
is extended to 30 March 1990.

Lieutenant Commander Ian Henry Dunhill, V.R.D., is transferred
to the Inactive List of the RNZNVR until 29 May 1990, with effect
from 29 May 1985.

The appointment of Lieutenant Commander R. McD. Henshaw
is extended to 14 July 1989.

Lieutenant Clive Andrew Holmes, RNZN, is appointed to the
RNZNVR in the rank of Lieutenant (on prob.), with seniority from
16 August 1984 and effect from 1 June 1985; terminating on 29
March 2001.

Grant Leonard Russell, M.B., CH.B., is appointed to the RNZNVR
in the rank of Surgeon Lieutenant (on prob.), with seniority from
1 December 1979 and effect from 7 June 1985; terminating on 1
February 2000.

Sub Lieutenant C. B. Carey to be Lieutenant with seniority and
effect from 20 February 1985.

Sub Lieutenant Ole Mervyn Boudewijn Arie Kelderman, RNZN,
is appointed to the RNZNVR in the rank of Sub Lieutenant (on
prob.), with seniority and effect from 20 March 1985; terminating
on 1 February 2006.

The appointment of Ensign (temp. Sub Lieutenant) David Arnold
Irvine Brent, LL.B., is terminated at his own request with effect from
26 June 1985.

The appointment of Ensign (on prob.) Margaret Anne Giles lapses
with effect from 22 June 1985.

Ensign Wilhelm Andreas von Biel, M.B., CH.B., to be Surgeon
Lieutenant with seniority from 18 January 1984, effect from 18 June
1985 and is transferred to the Inactive List of the RNZNVR until
18 June 1990.

INACTIVE LIST OF THE ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVAL VOLUNTEER
RESERVE

Surgeon Lieutenant Commander Anthony John Newson, M.B.,
CH.B., is placed on the Retired List of the RNZNVR with effect
from 1 June 1985.
