Crown Land Set Apart as State Forest Land—Westland Conservancy

PURSUANT to section 18 of the Forests Act 1949, the Land Officer, New Zealand Forest Service, acting pursuant to a delegation from the Minister of Forests hereby sets apart as State forest land, with effect from the date of publication hereof, the land described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT—WESTLAND COUNTY

25.8680 hectares, more or less, being Rural Sections 6635 and 6636, situated in Block XII, Waitaha Survey District; as shown on plan 133/3, deposited in the Head Office of the New Zealand Forest Service at Wellington (S.O. Plan 10956).

State Forest Land Set Apart as a Dedicated Area—Mokaihaha Ecological Area—Rotorua Conservancy

PURSUANT to section 15 of the Forests Act 1949 (as inserted by section 2 of the Forests Amendment Act 1973, and amended by section 5 of the Forests Amendment Act 1976), the Minister of Forests hereby gives notice that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart and dedicated for the purposes of protection, maintenance, and management of trees and other plants, and for the protection of the natural environment and native wildlife, and for scientific purposes, especially ecological purposes. The area so dedicated will be known as Mokaihaha Ecological Area.

SCHEDULE

SOUTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT—ROTORUA DISTRICT

1445 hectares, more or less, being Okoheriki part 1G and part 1C, Rotohokahoka part A and part B, Kaitao part No. 1, Patetere South part 1A and Section 3, Block VI, Horohoro Survey District. Situated in Blocks V and VI, Horohoro Survey District. All New Zealand Gazette, 1941, page 2713; as shown on plan U16/15, deposited in the Head Office of the New Zealand Forest Service at Wellington. EXPLANATORY NOTE

This area is dedicated as an ecological area for the preservation and protection of the remaining unmodified tract of the rimu - tawa forest type associated with the Mamaku Plateau and is located in the headwaters of the Mokaihaha and Takapuhurihi Streams.

State Forest Land Set Apart as a Dedicated Area—Pongakawa Ecological Area—Rotorua Conservancy

PURSUANT to section 15 of the Forests Act 1949 (as inserted by section 2 of the Forests Amendment Act 1973, and amended by section 5 of the Forests Amendment Act 1976), the Minister of Forests hereby gives notice that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart and dedicated for the purposes of protection, maintenance, and management of trees and other plants, and for the protection of the natural environment and native wildlife, and for scientific purposes, especially ecological purposes. The area so dedicated will be known as Pongakawa Ecological Area.

749.5000 hectares, more or less, being part Sections 8 and 9, Block I, Rotoma Survey District and part Section I, Block II, Rotoma Survey District. EXPLANATORY NOTE

This area is dedicated as an ecological area for the preservation and protection of one of the better remaining pockets of kokako in a range of habitats from moderate to low density podocarp forest. It is situated between Lake Rotochu and Pongakawa Valley.

PURSUANT to section 15 of the Forests Act 1949 (as inserted by section 2 of the Forests Amendment Act 1973, and amended by section 5 of the Forests Amendment Act 1976), the Minister of Forests hereby gives notice that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart and dedicated for the purposes of protection, maintenance, and management of trees and other plants, and for the protection of the natural environment and native wildlife, and for scientific purposes, especially ecological purposes. The area so dedicated will be known as Mangapapa Ecological Area.

SOUTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT—MATAMATA COUNTY

609 hectares, more or less, being part Paengaroa 4, part Lot 1, L.T. S. 34304, Block IX and X, Patetere North East Survey District, part Mangarewa Kaharoa 6f3 South, Block VI, Rotorua Survey District. New Zealand Gazette, 1975, page 2328; as shown on plan U15/13, deposited in the Head Office of the New Zealand Forest Service at Wellington. (S.O. Plan 53529).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This area is dedicated as an ecological area for the preservation and protection of the most northerly occurrence of red and silver beech as extensive lowland species on the eastern catchment of the Waiwhakangau Stream.

The Controlled Fisheries (Canterbury and Marlborough Maximum Licence and Boat Authority) Notice 1985 (Notice No. 3519; Ag. 9/6/1/12/3)

PURSUANT to section 30 of the Fisheries Act 1983, the Minister of Fisheries hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Controlled Fisheries (Canterbury and Marlborough Maximum Licence and Boat Authority) Notice 1985.
    (2) This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

  2. Maximum number of licences fixed—The maximum number of licences which may be granted by the Fisheries Authority in respect of the Canterbury and Marlborough Controlled Rock Lobster Fishery is hereby fixed at 95.

  3. Maximum number of boat authorities fixed—The maximum number of boat authorities which may be granted by the Fisheries Authority in respect of the Canterbury and Marlborough Controlled Rock Lobster Fishery is hereby fixed at 95.
