PURSUANT to section 35 of the Defence Act 1971, His Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Army.

REGULAR FORCE

APPOINTMENTS TO COMMISSION

The following are appointed to commissions in the rank of Lieutenant and Quartermaster, with seniority and effect from the date shown:

C41448 Warrant Officer Class II Graeme Andrew Capstick, Royal N.Z. Corps of Signals, 6 May 1985.

P693210 Warrant Officer Class I Barry Ian Tait, Royal N.Z. Military Police, 6 May 1985.

P51993 Warrant Officer Class I Alan Albert Mitchell, Royal Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, 13 May 1985.

ROYAL REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY

Major (temp. Lieutenant Colonel) C. R. Flinkenberg, LL.B., to be Lieutenant Colonel with seniority from 3 May 1985 and effect from 10 May 1985.

Lieutenant and Quartermaster L. J. Skinner is re-engaged until 27 August 1990.

ROYAL N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) and Quartermaster Douglas Roy Powdrell is transferred to the Army Reserve, General List of Officers, in his present rank with effect from 21 May 1985.

THE CORPS OF ROYAL N.Z. ENGINEERS

Captain (temp. Major) T. E. Jones: with reference to the notice published in the Gazette, 22 November 1984, No. 218, page 5243, for the date "6 September 1984" substitute "20 June 1984".

ROYAL N.Z. CORPS OF SIGNALS

Colonel Commandant

Captain W. H. Hickson, C.B.E., Retired List, is appointed Colonel Commandant, Royal N.Z. Corps of Signals, for a period of 4 years with effect from 1 April 1985, vice Lieutenant Colonel J. W. Bateman, O.B.E., M.M., E.D., Retired List.

Major (temp. Lieutenant Colonel) D. P. Bent to be Lieutenant Colonel with seniority and effect from 1 May 1985.

Major M. M. Fair to be Lieutenant Colonel with seniority from 1 August 1984 and effect from 20 May 1985.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) T. G. Abbott to be Captain with seniority and effect from 18 January 1985.

ROYAL N.Z. INFANTRY REGIMENT

Major Alastair Ronald Forrest MacKenzie is re-posted to the Retired List with effect from 15 April 1985.

Captain John Laurence Liddell is transferred from the Territorial Force on a fixed engagement of 3 years in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 6 May 1983; to be temp. Captain with effect from 6 May 1985.

Lieutenant M. I. D. Gribben, B.A.(HONS.), to be temp. Captain with effect from 28 May 1985.

Lieutenant and Quartermaster R. J. O'Neil to be temp. Captain and Quartermaster with effect from 3 May 1985.

Lieutenant Peter Morton King is transferred from the Territorial Force on a fixed engagement of 5 years in his present rank, with seniority from 22 April 1984 and effect from 22 April 1985.

Supernumerary List

The engagement of Captain R. A. Manning, M.B.E., is extended to 14 October 1986.

ROYAL N.Z. CORPS OF TRANSPORT

V43466 Warrant Officer Class I Paul Herbert Robinson, B.E.M., is appointed to a commission in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 15 April 1983 and effect from 15 April 1985.

Major R. A. Wharton is transferred to the Supernumerary List with effect from 23 February 1985.

Captain (temp. Major) G. M. Field to be Major with seniority and effect from 13 May 1985.

Supernumerary List

Captain A. R. Dixon: the notice published in the Gazette, 9 May 1985, No. 85, page 2079, is cancelled and the following substituted:

Captain Archibald Robert Dixon is posted to the Retired List in the rank of Major, with effect from 1 March 1985.

ROYAL N.Z. ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS

Major (temp. Lieutenant Colonel) J. F. Hyde to be Lieutenant Colonel with seniority and effect from 2 May 1985.
