Southland Catchment District and Water Region Boundaries Alteration Order 1984

At the Government House at Wellington this 30th day of April 1984

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to section 36 of the Local Government Act 1974, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order:
ORDER
- Title and commencement—(1) This order may be cited as the Southland Catchment District and Water Region Boundaries Alteration Order 1984.
(2) This order shall come into force on the 1st day of May 1984.

Boundaries of Southland Catchment District and Water Region altered—The boundaries of the Southland Catchment District and Water Region (hereinafter referred to as the Catchment District) are hereby altered by including in the Catchment District the area described in the Schedule to this order.

Representation on Southland Catchment Board—(1) For the purpose of electoral representation on the Southland Catchment Board, Stewart Island County shall be deemed to form part of the combined district comprising those parts of Southland County, Lake County, Vincent County and Clutha County which are included in the Catchment District.
(2) At the next triennial general election of members of local authorities to be held in 1986 and at each subsequent election the electors of the combined district of Stewart Island County, and those parts of Southland County, Lake County, Vincent County and Clutha County which are included in the Catchment District, shall jointly elect 4 members to the Southland Catchment Board.
(3) Pursuant to section 42 (3) of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act 1941 the Southland County Council shall continue to be the principal local authority of the combined district of Stewart Island County, and those parts of Southland County, Lake County, Vincent County and Clutha County which are included in the Catchment District.
SCHEDULE
All that area in the Southland Land District, being Stewart Island, Ruapuki Island, and other adjacent Islands, comprising the Stewart Island County, as described in the First Schedule of the Counties Act 1876. Together with the Territorial Sea adjacent to the said islands bounded by a line commencing at a point on the existing Water Region Boundary, at approximate latitude 46° 51′ 30″ south, longitude 168° 50′ 15″ east; thence south-westerly, westerly and northerly generally following the outer limit of the territorial sea (as defined by section 3 of the Territorial Sea and Exclusive Economic Zone Act 1977) around the afore mentioned islands to its intersection with the existing Region Boundary at latitude 46° 29′ 30″ longitude 167° 30′ 40″.
