Notice of Marine Mammal Permit Application (Notice No. 3223;
Ag. 9/6/16/1)
PURSUANT to section 5 (5) of the Marine Mammals Protection Act
1978, the Minister of Fisheries advises that Mark Webber and Frank
Cipriano of the United States of America have applied for a permit
to take Dusky dolphins (Lagenorhynchus obscurus) for the purpose of
tagging, blood sampling and measurement, and to fiense and
study carcasses incidentally caught or stranded in the north
Canterbury area. The Minister hereby calls for any submissions
regarding this application to be made in writing within 28 days
of publication of this notice.

- Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the
Controlled Fisheries (Wellington and Hawkes Bay Maximum Licence
and Boat Authority) Notice 1984.
(2) This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of
its notification in the Gazette.
- Maximum number of licences fixed—The maximum number
of licences which may be granted by the Fisheries Authority in
respect of the Wellington and Hawkes Bay Controlled Rock Lobster
Fishery is hereby fixed at 89.

Controlled Fisheries (Otago Maximum Licence and Boat Authority)
Notice 1984.
(2) This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of
its notification in the Gazette.

of licences which may be granted by the Fisheries Authority in
respect of the Otago Controlled Rock Lobster Fishery is hereby
fixed at 79. -
Maximum number of boat authorities fixed—The maximum
number of boat authorities which may be granted by the Fisheries
Authority in respect of the Otago Controlled Rock Lobster Fishery
is hereby fixed at 94.

Standard Grade for the Export of Kiwifruit Notice (No. 3225; Ag.
12/2/14)
THIS notice revokes the Standard Grade for the Export of Kiwifruit
Notice 1977 (No. 1682; Ag. 12/2/14) published in the New Zealand
Gazette, Thursday, 21 April 1977, the Amendment Notice 1980
(No. 2301; Ag. 12/2/14) published in the New Zealand Gazette on
31 January 1980, and the notice of Minimum Acceptable Standard
for Kiwifruit (Notice No. 2918; Ag. 12/14/1) published in the New
Zealand Gazette on 4 November 1982.
PURSUANT to regulation 13 of the New Zealand Grown Fruit and
Vegetables Regulations 1975*, the Director-General of Agriculture
and Fisheries hereby gives notice that the standard grade for the
export of kiwifruit shall be as set out in this notice.
NOTICE
- Title—
(a) This notice may be cited as the Standard Grade for the Export
of Kiwifruit Notice 1984.
(b) This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of
its notification in the Gazette.

Application of notice—This notice determines the standard
grade applicable for the export of kiwifruit, and shall be the mini-
num grade standard for kiwifruit exported from New Zealand. -
Title and grade—The grade mark assigned to this standard grade
shall be Class I (hereinafter referred to as “the grade”). -
Definition of produce—This grade applies to kiwifruit being
fresh fruit grown from varieties of Actinidia chinensis Planch to be
supplied fresh to the consumer. -
Definition of terms—Unless the context otherwise requires,
terms used in this notice shall have the same meaning as in the
New Zealand Grown Fruit and Vegetables Regulations 1975. Cer-
tain of these definitions as applicable to fruit are set out in the First
Schedule to this notice. -
Quality requirements—
(a) The fruit must be:
(i) Intact—whole fruit
(ii) Sound
(iii) Clean
(iv) Well formed—typical of variety
(v) Free from abnormal external moisture; and
(vi) Free of foreign smell or taste
(b) The kiwifruit must have been carefully picked and of a similar
degree of maturity in the same line of produce. They must
have matured sufficiently to complete the ripening process
and in the opinion of an inspector, the stage of maturity
must be suitable to withstand handling, storage and trans-
port to meet the market requirements of the place of des-
tination. Except with the express permission of an
authorised inspector kiwifruit for export shall not be har-
vested in any season until the fruit reaches a minimum of
6.2 percent soluble solids as determined by a Brix test.
