Annual Levy Prescribed under the Wine Makers Levy Act 1976
(Notice No. 3194; Ag. 4/54/21)

PURSUANT to section 4 (1) of the Wine Makers Levy Act 1976 and on the recommendation of the Wine Institute of New Zealand Incorporated, I hereby prescribe an annual levy of 37.2 cents per hectolitre on the grape wine sold by every holder of a grape wine licence during the year ended 30 September 1983.

The Shipping (Construction Fees) Notice 1984

PURSUANT to section 196 of the Shipping and Seamen Act 1952, the Minister of Transport hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Shipping (Construction Fees) Notice 1984.
    (2) This notice shall come into force on the 1st day of March 1984.

  2. Fees—There shall be paid for the services specified in the first column of the Schedule to this notice the fees specified in the second column of that Schedule.

  3. Revocation—The Shipping (Construction Fees) Notice (No. 2) 1982* is hereby revoked.


SCHEDULE

CI. 2

(a) Examination of plans and specifications of ships to which section 196 (1) of the Shipping and Seamen Act 1952 applies—
(i) Ships not exceeding 6.1 metres register length $250
(ii) Ships exceeding 6.1 but not exceeding 25 metres register length $250 plus $90 for each metre or part of a metre in excess of 6.1 metres.
(iii) Ships exceeding 25 but not exceeding 30 metres register length $1,960 plus $125 for each metre or part of a metre in excess of 25 metres.
(iv) Ships exceeding 30 metres register length $28 for each hour or part of an hour that a Surveyor is engaged on the work, with a minimum fee of $2,600.
(v) For identical repeat plan One-fifth of the appropriate fee specified in subparagraphs (i) to (iv) of this paragraph.
(vi) For a repeat plan where changes are made that do not affect the basic dimensions of the ship One-fifth of the appropriate fee specified in subparagraphs (i) to (iv) of this paragraph, plus $28 for each hour or part of an hour that a Surveyor is engaged on the work; with a maximum of the fee so specified.

(b) Examination of plans and specifications of ships to which section 196 (1) of the Shipping and Seamen Act 1952 does not apply $28 for each hour or part of an hour that a Surveyor is engaged on the work; with a maximum fee of the fee that would be payable if the ship was one to which section 196 (1) of the Shipping and Seamen Act 1952 did apply.

(c) Attendance by Surveyor during construction of ships built in New Zealand, other than home-trade passenger ships and foreign-going passenger ships—
Ships not exceeding 12 metres register length $300
Ships exceeding 12 but not 15 metres register length $420
Ships exceeding 15 but not 18 metres register length $540
Ships exceeding 18 but not 21 metres register length $660
Ships exceeding 21 but not 24 metres register length $800
Ships exceeding 24 but not 40 metres register length $1,400
Ships exceeding 40 but not 60 metres register length $2,000
Ships exceeding 60 but not 80 metres register length $3,000
Ships exceeding 80 but not 100 metres register length $4,000
Ships exceeding 100 metres register length $4,000 plus $1,000 for each 20 m or part of 20 m register length over 100 metres.

(d) Attendance by Surveyor during construction of ships built in New Zealand that are home-trade passenger ships or foreign-trade passenger ships Twice the fee that would be payable under paragraph (c) if the ship were one to which that paragraph applied.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice replaces the Shipping (Construction Fees) Notice (No. 2) 1982. It prescribes the fees payable on and after 1 March 1984 in respect of the examination of plans and specifications of ships built in New Zealand at the attendance by Surveyors during the construction of those ships.
