Cancellation of Registration of Industrial Union

PURSUANT to section 193 of the Industrial Relations Act 1973, it is hereby notified that the registration of the New Zealand Federated Tally Clerks' Industrial Association of Workers, Registered No. 2145, situated at Marsden Wharf, Quay Street, Auckland (P.O. Box 3895), is hereby cancelled as from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette.

Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976

PURSUANT to the provisions of Regulation 18 (3) of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976, the following specifications are declared suitable for the purpose of those regulations:

British Standards—

BS 162: 1961 Electric power switchgear and associated apparatus (including Amendments No. 1 to No. 5). Declared suitable subject to compliance with Regulation 20 (1) of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.

If this specification is superseded the declaration of this specification is rescinded.

BS 562: 1958 Reversible connectors for portable electrical appliances (including Amendments No. 1 to No. 5). Declared suitable subject to compliance with Regulation 20 (1) (b) of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.

If this specification is superseded the declaration of this specification is rescinded.

BS 764: 1954 Automatic change-over contractors for emergency lighting systems (including Amendments No. 1 to No. 5).

If this specification is superseded the declaration of this specification is rescinded.

BS 841: 1966 Lamp-caps and lampholders for architectural lamps. Declared suitable subject to compliance with Regulation 20 (1) (a) of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.

If this specification is superseded the declaration of this specification is rescinded.

BS 3456:— Specification for safety of household and similar electrical appliances—

Part 1: 1969 General Requirements (including Amendments No. 1 to No. 5).

Declared suitable subject to the following conditions:

(i) Clause 2.17 being deleted and replaced with “Extra-low voltage” means any voltage not exceeding 32 volts alternating current or 50 volts direct current.

(ii) Any radio-interference suppression device complying with Regulation 126 (4) of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.

Part 2:— Particular requirements—

Section 2.5: 1970 Shavers, hair clippers and similar appliances (including Amendments No. 1 and No. 2).

Section 2.12: 1970 Spin extractors (including Amendments No. 1 to No. 3).

If this specification is superseded the declaration of this specification is rescinded.

Section 2.13: 1970 Tumbler dryers.

If this specification is superseded the declaration of this specification is rescinded.

Section 2.20: 1971 Electric floor polishers (including Amendment No. 1).

If this specification is superseded the declaration of this specification is rescinded.

Section 2.28: 1973 Food preparation machines including mixers, coffee grinders and coffee mills (including Amendment No. 1).

If this specification is superseded the declaration of this specification is rescinded.

Section 2.32: 1974 Mains-operated electric lawnmowers (including Amendments No. 1 and No. 2).

If this specification is superseded the declaration of this specification is rescinded.

Part 3:— Complete particular specifications—

Section 3.1: 1979 Irons, ironers, and pressing machines (including Amendment No. 1). Declared suitable subject to the following conditions:

(i) Deleting “42 V” in subclause 2.21 and substituting “32 V a.c. or 50 V d.c.”.

(ii) Deleting subclause 2.22 and substituting the following: 2.22 Safety extra-low voltage supply denotes a supply obtained from a source which is independent of the supply mains, or from the supply mains through a safety isolating transformer or converter with separate windings, this supply being such that the no-load voltage does not exceed 32 V a.c. or 50 V d.c. between conductors.

(iii) Clause 8.4 complying with Regulation 107 of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.

(iv) Deleting “34” in Clause 8.9 and substituting 32 V a.c. or 50 V d.c.

(v) Any associated accessory being of a type not prohibited from use in New Zealand.

Section 3.3: 1979 Vacuum cleaners and water suction cleaning appliances (including Amendment No. 1).

If this specification is superseded the declaration of this specification is rescinded.

Section 3.12: 1979 Kitchen machines (including Amendment No. 1).

If this specification is superseded the declaration of this specification is rescinded.

Section 3.19 1980 Appliances for heating liquids (including Amendment No. 1). Declared suitable subject to the following condition: Compliance with Regulation 107 of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.

If this specification is superseded the declaration of this specification is rescinded.

BS 3953: 1976 Synthetic resin bonded woven glass fabric laminated sheet (including Amendment No. 1).

BS 5311:— Specification for a.c. circuit-breakers of rated voltage above 1 kV—

Part I: 1976 General and definitions.

BS 5415:— Safety of electrical motor-operated industrial cleaning appliances—

Part 1: 1976 General requirements (including Amendments No. 1 to No. 4). Declared suitable subject to the following conditions:

(i) Any radio-interference suppression devices comply with Regulation 126 (4) of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.

(ii) The current ratings and cross-sectional areas of flexible cords referred to in Clause 25.6 complies with Table 22M in the handbook to the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.

(iii) Subclauses 2.15 and 2.16 comply with the definition of “Extra-low voltage” referred to in Regulation 2 of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.

Part 2:— Particular requirements—

Section 2.2: 1976 Vacuum cleaners wet and/or dry (including Amendment No. 1 to No. 4).

BS 5501:— Electrical apparatus for potentially explosive atmospheres—

Part 7: 1977 Intrinsic safety “i” (including Amendments No. 1 to No. 5). Declared suitable subject to the deduction in Clause 9 for exemption from a type test on the spark test apparatus being carried out by a recognised testing authority.

BS 6351:— Electrical surface heating—

Part 1: 1983 Specification for electric surface heating devices.

Part 2: 1983 Guide to the design of electric surface heating systems.

Part 3: 1983 Code of practice for the installation, testing and maintenance of electric surface heating systems.

Australian Standards—

AS 1021—1980 Protection by purging of electrical equipment for explosive gas atmospheres.

AS 1023— Thermal protection of electric motors—

Part 1—1971 Built-in thermal detectors and associated control units.

AS 1136—1980 Switchgear and control gear assemblies for voltages up to 1000 V a.c.

AS 1308—1973 Thermostats and over-temperature energy cutouts for automatic electric water heaters (including Amendments No. 1 and No. 2).
