The Standards Act 1965—Draft New Zealand Standard
Specification Available for Comment

PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965,
notice is hereby given that the following draft New Zealand standard
specification is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification

DZ 1900:Chapter 6 Model building bylaw—
Chapter 6: Construction requirements for buildings not requiring
specific design—Timber and masonry. Gratis.

This proposed revision of NZS 1900 Chapter 6 is intended to
supersede the current 2 divisions of the Chapter.

6.1 Construction requirements for buildings not
requiring specific design . . . . . . . . —Timber
6.2 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . —Masonry

Division 6.1 is already in a shortened format which sets out general
requirements and cites a specific Standard as being approved as a
means of compliance. With the anticipated publication, within the
next few months, of a New Zealand standard for concrete masonry
buildings not requiring specific design, Division 6.2 can be re-written
in similar shortened format. The opportunity is being taken to
combine the 2 divisions into a single document. Material in the
current Division 6.1 which is also covered in Chapter 9 has been
omitted.

All persons who may be affected by this publication and who
desire to comment thereon, may obtain copies at the price shown,
from the Standards Association of New Zealand, Wellington Trade
Centre, 15–23 Sturdee Street (or Private Bag), Wellington.

NOTE—Payment must accompany all requests for drafts.

The closing date for the receipt of comment is 28 January 1985.

Dated at Wellington this 9th day of November 1984.

DENYS R. M. PINFOLD,
Director, Standards Association of New Zealand.
