PURSUANT to section 20 of the Public Works Act 1981, the Minister
of Works and Development declares that, an agreement to that effect

Notice of Intention to Take Land for Road and for the Production
of Energy in Block III, Cromwell Survey District, Vincent County
Near Lowburn

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed under the provisions of
the Public Works Act 1981, to take the land in the First Schedule
and parts of the land in the Third Schedule hereto for road, to be
used for the realignment of State Highway No. 8 and to take the
land described in the Second Schedule and parts of the land in the
Third Schedule hereto for the generation of electricity, such land
to be used for inundation in connection with the Clutha Valley
Development Scheme, with portions to be formed into islands
including an area for a wildlife refuge.

The taking of the land for road is considered essential as a portion
of the existing State Highway No. 8 will be inundated and an
alternative route will be necessary, and the proposed route is
considered the best for engineering and economic reasons.

The taking of the land described in the Second Schedule is
considered essential as it is required in connection with essential
hydroelectric works, adjoining land having been acquired for
inundation.

Any person having an estate or interest in the land may within
20 working days of the date of publication of this notice send an
objection to the Registrar, Planning Tribunal, Tribunals Division,
Justice Department, Private Bag, Wellington. If any objection is
made in accordance with this notice, a public objection will be held,
unless the objector otherwise requires, and each objector will be
informed of the time and place of the hearing.
