WAIMARINO COUNTY COUNCIL
IN the matter of Local Government Act 1974:
PURSUANT to the Local Government Act 1974, the Bylaws Act 1910 and all other powers and authorities in any way enabling it in that behalf the Waimarino County Council hereby makes the following Bylaw.

MODEL STOCK DROVING BYLAW

  1. This bylaw shall be known as the Waimarino County Council Stock Drov ing Bylaw 1984 and shall come into force on the 13th day of August 1984.

  2. This bylaw is made under the authority of section 72 of the Transport Act 1962 in respect of roads under the control of the Waimarino County Council.

  3. In this bylaw, except where inconsistent with the context.
    “Hours of daylight” means any period of time between half an hour before sunrise on any one day and half an hour after sunset on that day.
    “Road” means a road as defined in section 2 of the Transport Act 1962.

  4. No person shall drive any horses, cattle, sheep or pigs along any road except:
    (a) during the hours of daylight; or
    (b) in the case of escape or an emergency; or
    (c) in the case of dairy cattle, for the purpose of moving the cattle from one part of a farm to another part of that farm for milking purposes, and subject to clause 7 of this by-law.

  5. No person shall drive any horses, cattle, sheep or pigs along any of the roads named in Schedule A within the district of the Waimarino County Council except in the case of the escape or emergency or where the horses, cattle, sheep or pigs are being moved from one part of a farm to another part of that farm and no other suitable route is available.

  6. No person shall drive any horses, cattle, sheep or pigs along any road not named in Schedule A within the district of the Waimarino County Council unless the following conditions are complied with:
    (a) The number of animals in any one mob shall not exceed 600 head of cattle or 3000 head of sheep, and drovers in charge of mobs shall be at the ratio of one competent drover to every 300 cattle or part thereof, or 1500 sheep or part thereof.

(b) The drover shall keep the animals moving at all times so as to make progress towards the destination at an average rate of not less than 8 kilometres per day:
Provided that where a person can not comply with any such conditions that person shall not drive any such animal along any such road without the prior written permission of the Chief Executive Officer of the Waimarino County Council. (Restriction re pigs and hoses. If not, omit from line 1).

  1. No person shall move dairy cattle across or along a road where he may reasonably move the cattle along a race on private land or road reserve.
    Where it is not reasonable to move cattle along a race on private land or road reserve, those cattle shall not be moved across or along a road unless:
    (a) The conditions set out in sub-clauses (a) and (b) of clause 6 of this bylaw are complied with, and
    (b) The cattle are driven in such a manner, and use only such points of access and exit to and from the road, as will ensure that danger to other road users and damage to the road will be minimised.

  2. Every person committing any breach of this bylaw shall be liable upon conviction to a fine not exceeding $200.
    This bylaw was adopted by way of special resolution passed at a meeting of the council held in Raetihi on the 26th day of July 1984.

NEW ZEALAND WOOL BOARD
PURSUANT to regulation 15 of the Wool Industry Regulations 1978, notice is hereby given that the Adjusted Weighted Average Sale Price for the sale held on the 16th day of August 1984 at Dunedin was 358.02 cents per kilogram (greasy basis).
There is likewise no grower retention levy payable in terms of section 42 of the Wool Industry Act 1977, as the A.W.A.S.P. is less than the ruling trigger price of 500 cents per kilogram (greasy basis).
