Notice of Receipt of Application for an International Air Services Licence

PURSUANT to section 7 of the International Air Services Licensing Act 1947, notice is hereby given that Polynesian Airlines Operations Limited at Apia, Western Samoa, has applied for an International Air Services Licence to operate air services for the carriage of passengers, cargo, and mail between Auckland and Apia, optionally via Niue and/or Tonga, twice per week, and between Rarotonga and Apia optionally via Pago Pago twice per week. Further details of this proposal may be obtained from the Secretary for Transport, Ministry of Transport, Private Bag, Wellington.

Any person or organisation wishing to make representations relating to this application must forward those representations in writing to reach me on or before 31 July 1984.

Exemption From Certificate of Fitness in Chatham and Great Barrier Islands

PURSUANT to regulation 85 (6) of the Traffic Regulations 1976*, the Minister of Transport hereby exempts from the provisions of regulation 85 (1) of the said regulations, only as it applies to the requirements to carry a current certificate of fitness, any motor vehicle while operated solely within one or more of the islands described in the Schedule hereto.

Sale of Auckland Harbour Board Land

I, George Frederick Gair, Minister of Transport, having obtained the concurrence of the Minister of Finance pursuant to section 143A (3) of the Harbours Act 1950, hereby approve pursuant to section 143A (1) (a) and section 143C (1) (b) (i) of the said Act the sale of the land referred to in the Schedule hereto by the Auckland Harbour Board pursuant to section 143C of the said Act and I specify that my approval hereunder is effective from the date hereof.

SCHEDULE

ALL that parcel of land in the Land Registration District of North Auckland containing 9105 square metres, more or less, being land reclaimed from Shoal Bay in the harbour of Auckland and being part of the land described in certificate of title 24D/851, as more particularly shown edged red on plan MD. 16233, deposited in the office of the Secretary for Transport at Wellington.

Sale of Wanganui Harbour Board Land

I, George Frederick Gair, Minister of Transport, having obtained the concurrence of the Minister of Finance pursuant to section 143A (3) of the Harbours Act 1950, hereby approve pursuant to section 143A (1) (a) and section 143C (1) (b) (i) of the Harbours Act 1950, the sale of the land referred to in the First and Second Schedules hereto by the Wanganui Harbour Board pursuant to section 143C of the said Act and I specify that my approval hereunder is effective from the date hereof.

FIRST SCHEDULE

ALL that parcel of land in the Land Registration District of Wellington containing 1695 square metres, more or less, being Lot 7 on Deposited Plan 49262, and being all the land described in certificate of title 19B/1358.

SECOND SCHEDULE

ALL that parcel of land in the Land Registration District of Wellington containing 1650 square metres, more or less, being Lot 8 on Deposited Plan 49262, and being all the land described in certificate of title 19B/1359.

The Controlled Fisheries (Southern Scallop Fishery Maximum Licence and Boat Authority) Notice 1984—(Notice No. 3281; Ag. 9/6/1/6/2)

PURSUANT to section 30 of the Fisheries Act 1983, the Minister of Fisheries hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Controlled Fisheries (Southern Scallop Fishery Maximum Licence and Boat Authority) Notice 1984.

(2) This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

  1. Maximum number of licences fixed—The maximum number of licences which may be granted by the Fisheries Authority in respect of the Southern Scallop Fishery is hereby fixed at 45.

  2. Maximum of boat authorities fixed—The maximum number of boat authorities which may be granted by the Fisheries Authority in respect of the Southern Scallop Fishery is hereby fixed at 48.

PURSUANT to section 32 (4) of the Official Information Act 1982, a copy of a direction to the Director-General of the Post Office is hereby published for public information. The grounds for the direction and the source and purport of the advice on which it is based are set out in the direction.

POST OFFICE TENDER FOR SUPPLY OF WALL PLUGS

  1. I have decided that the information sought by Mr A. H. Dazeley on behalf of Ratio Industries (NZ) Ltd., and recommended to be released by the Ombudsman pursuant to section 30 (2) of the Official Information Act 1982, namely the price of the plugs successfully tendered, should not be made available to him, and accordingly direct you pursuant to section 32 (1) (a) of the Official Information Act 1982 not to disclose it.

  2. The grounds for the direction are:

(1) The making available of the information could reasonably be expected to prejudice significantly the commercial activities of the Crown.

(2) The withholding of the information is necessary to enable the Crown, the Post Office and other departments to carry out without prejudice or disadvantage their commercial activities and there are no other considerations which render it desirable in the public interest to make that information available.

(3) Access to information relating to Government tenders is governed by the Public Finance Act 1977, the Government Stores Regulations 1960 and the Government Stores Board Instructions. I have been advised and have concluded that
