(f) In that part of Lake Rotoiti abutting the southern shoreline between landmarks situated at Ruato and Hinehopu and extending from that shoreline for a distance of 100 metres into Lake Rotoiti during the period 1st day of July to the 30th day of September, both days inclusive.

(2) No person shall take trout from any boat in—
(a) Waters that are reserved for natural fly or artificial fly fishing, unless the boat is securely anchored parallel to the river flow with not more than 2 anchors;
(b) Those portions of the homestead arm of Lake Rerewhakaaitu and the Mangakino Stream contained within a line between the normal sites of 2 landmarks on the opposite sides of the homestead arm of Lake Rerewhakaaitu and the source of the Mangakino Stream, unless the boat is securely anchored at one end only; or
(c) That portion of Lake Rotomahana lying east of a line between the normal sites of 2 landmarks adjacent to the area known commonly as “the landing”:
Provided that nothing in this clause shall derogate from the provisions of subclause (1) of this clause.

(3) No person shall, except in case of emergency put into motion or allow to remain in motion any boat, whether propelled by mechanical power or not, in any waters referred to in subclause (2) of this clause while any person aboard is fishing for trout.

  1. Revocation—The notice published in the supplement to the New Zealand Gazette, No. 222 of Thursday, 15 December 1983, on pages 4586–4588, titled District Anglers Notice Central North Island Wildlife Conservancy Acclimatisation District, is hereby revoked.

DESCRIPTION OF ROTORUA TROUT FISHING DISTRICT

WITH the exclusion of all that area set down in the Taupo District Order 1983, all that area in the South Auckland, Gisborne, Wellington, and Hawke’s Bay Land Districts bounded by a line commencing at the middle of the mouth of the Mohaka River in Block XIII, Waihua S.D., and proceeding up the middle of that river to a point in line with Trig. Station 68A in Block XIII, Kaweka S.D., and Trig. Station 65A in Block XXI, Kaweka S.D.; thence generally south-westerly along right lines to Trig. Station 26 Tauwheke whango in Block XII, Mangamai re S.D., to Trig. Station 27 Motunatai in Block XV, Mangamai re S.D., to Trig. Station 23 Kaimanawa (Three Kings) in Block V, Motupuha S.D., and to Trig. Station 7 Waitangi in Block V, Moawhango S.D., along the production of the last mentioned line to the middle of the No. 1 State Highway, and along the middle of that highway, Waiaruhe Road, Owhakura Road, Whangaehu Valley Road, and Fields Track to the middle of that highway to a point in line with the southern boundary of Lot 4, D.P. 29354; thence generally westerly to and along the southern boundaries of Lots 4 and 3, D.P. 29354, the eastern, northern and western boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. 29350, the south-eastern boundary of Lot 32, D.P. 29337, the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of Lot 42, D.P. 29337, and the production of the last mentioned boundary to and down the middle of Paparoa Stream to the middle of the Wanganui River; thence up the middle of that river to a point in line with the western boundary of Wauione Block in Block XIV, Maungaku S.D.; thence northerly to and along that boundary to Trig. Station 1545 Maungaku in Block X, Maungaku S.D.; thence northerly along the summit of the Hauhungaroa Range passing through Trig. Stations 1711 Hauhungaroa in Block XIV, Puketapu S.D., Motere in Block V, Puketapu S.D., 2019 Tuhingamata in Block II, Puketapu S.D., and 2016 Weraroa in Block XI, Hurakia S.D., to Trig. Station 1390 Puroa in Block III, Hurakia S.D.; thence north-westerly along a right line to Pukeroa Trig. Station in Block XIV, Ranginui S.D.; thence north-easterly along the watershed between the Waiteti and the Mangakino Streams to Trig. Station Taupaki in Block I, Whakamaru S.D.; thence due east to a right line between Puroea Dam on the Waikato River in Block II, Whakamaru S.D.; thence north-easterly along a right line to Trig. Station 1002 in Block XV, Patetere South S.D.; thence north-easterly along that right line to Puwhenua Trig. Station; thence north-westerly along a right line in the direction of Te Weraiti Trig. Station in Block IV, Opoutihi S.D., to a point due west of Otanewainuku Trig. Station in Block XVI, Otanewainuku S.D.; thence due east through Otanewainuku Trig.

Station to a point due south of Trig. Station JI in Block IV, Waihi South S.D.; thence due north through Trig. Station JI to the mean low-water mark of the sea; thence easterly and southerly along the mean low-water mark crossing the mouths of all harbours and rivers, to the point of commencement, including Mayor Island, The Alderman and Mercury Islands, Rurima Rocks, Motiti Island, Slipper Island, Shoe Island, Whale Island, Karewa Island, White Island and all other adjacent islands.

Description of Waters

  1. (a) The Ohau Channel:
    (b) Every stream or river flowing out of Lake Tarawera, or Lake Rotoiti:
    Provided that nothing in this paragraph shall apply with respect to the Tarawera River below the site of a landmark approximately 2500 metres downstream from its outlet from Lake Tarawera or to the Kaituna River below the site of a landmark at Hinemoa’s steps approximately 1 km downstream from its outlet from Lake Rotoiti where the mouth of the outlet is designated by landmarks:
    (c) That part of Lake Tarawera which lies inside a line, the ends of which are shown by landmarks on the shore, and which is 200 metres from and parallel to the shore of Kariri Point and Rangiruru Bay:
    (d) Every stream, spring, or river flowing into Lake Rotorua:
    (e) All waters contained within the arc of a circle having a radius of 300 metres around the centre of the mouth or mouths of every stream, spring, or river flowing into or out of any of the following lakes:
    (i) Lake Rotorua:
    (ii) Lake Rotoiti:
    (iii) Lake Okataina:
    (iv) Lake Rotomahana:
    (v) Lake Tarawera:
    (vi) Lake Rotokakahi:
    (vii) Lake Okareka:
    (f) That portion of Lake Rotomahana lying east of a line between the normal sites of 2 landmarks adjacent to the area known commonly as “the landing”:
    (g) The Horomanga River:
    (h) The Hopuruahine, Aniwaniwa, and Mokau Rivers and their tributaries, and the waters of Lake Waikaremoana contained within the arc of a circle having a radius of 300 metres around the centre of the mouths of those rivers, as indicated by landmarks by those river mouths:

Natural fly or artificial fly.
Except as provided in the definition of “artificial fly” in clause 2 (2) of this notice, no spinning attachment nor anything made from lead, glass, plastic, or other material to facilitate casting or to increase the sinking of the line shall be added to the cast, line, or fly.
