Explanatory Note: This notice—
(a) provides for the exemption of:
(i) coniferous sawlogs and other sawn coniferous timber, and railway and tramway sleepers of wood; and
(ii) floppy disks for use in automatic data processing machines;
(b) withdraws the exemption for actuating equipment for excavating equipment; and
(c) makes minor adjustments to the exemptions for timber imported from and being the produce or manufacture of Australia.
Import Control Exemption Notice (No. 2) 1983-84
Pursuant to regulation 17 of the Import Control Regulations 1973*, the Minister of Trade and Industry hereby gives notice as follows:
- (a) This notice may be cited as the Import Control Exemption Notice (No. 2) 1983-84.
(b) This notice shall come into force on the 1st day of July 1983.

Goods of the classes specified and for the purposes of the Customs Tariff falling within the Tariff items in the First Schedule hereto, imported from and being the produce or manufacture of any country, are hereby exempted from the requirement of a licence under the said regulations.

Goods imported from Pacific Forum Island Countries that are signatories to the South Pacific Regional Trade and Economic Co-operation Agreement (SPARTECA) of the classes specified in the Second Schedule hereto, are hereby exempted from the requirement of a licence under the said regulations.

The exemption from the requirement of a licence under the said regulations in respect of the goods of the classes set forth in the Third Schedule hereto, included in the exemption notice shown in the Third Schedule is hereby withdrawn.

The exemption from the requirement under the said regulations in respect of goods imported from Pacific Forum Island Countries that are signatories to the South Pacific Regional Trade and Economic Co-operation Agreement (SPARTECA) of the classes specified in the Fourth Schedule hereto, included in the exemption notice shown in the Fourth Schedule is hereby withdrawn.
