Import Licence Tendering—Call for Tenders: Round 7

PURSUANT to the Import Control Regulations 1973, Amendment No. 3 (S.R. 1980/246), the Secretary of Trade and Industry, acting under delegated authority is calling tenders for the goods specified below. These goods constitute Round Seven and comprise the 4th Allocation of Apparel under the Textile Industry Development Plan, tennis racquets and frames as part of an industry production rationalisation scheme, fur apparel and sanitary towels as a means of examining protection policies. A special import licence allocation for handknotted and handwoven rugs and carpets of wool or fine animal hair (including silk) is repeated from Round 5. Licences obtained for Apparel in this Round are not valid until 10 September 1983 and are valid thereafter for 12 months. Results of tendering are expected to be published in July but invoices will not be payable until 10 September 1983, and payment must be made within six months thereafter.

It should be noted that an allocation of licence has already been made to manufacturers of tennis racquets. Manufacturers opting to uplift that licence and any company in which they have a 25 percent share, or greater, directly or indirectly are not permitted to tender in this Round for tennis racquets and frames. Instructions for tenderers and the general terms and conditions which apply to the submission and acceptance of tenders are set out in the Guide to Import Licence Tendering dated October 1982.

Tenders should be addressed to the Registrar of Tenders, P.O. Box 3146, Wellington or be delivered by hand to the First Floor of the Bowen State Building, Wellington. Tenders for Round 7 should reach the Registrar no later than 5 p.m. on 30 May 1983.

NOTE:

  1. Tenderers should refer to the Customs Tariff and the Import Licensing Schedule for a definite description of the goods included in the list above.
  2. Tenderers should be conversant with the various statutes and regulations which importing enterprises are obliged to comply with, such as the Food and Drug Regulations 1973, Safety Standards, Duties and Sales Tax, etc., where relevant.
  3. Successful tenderers under the Apparel Tendering Scheme are required to provide details of how their tender licence(s) have been used at the time of importation. Forms for this purpose will be attached to the letter of official notification sent to successful tenderers. The completed information should be sent to the Executive Officer, Textiles 1, Industries Division, Department of Trade and Industry, Private Bag, Wellington.
  4. Tenderers are reminded to use a separate tender form for each tender number. Bids may be sent in one envelope. The envelope should be marked Import Licence Tender.
