DESCRIPTIONS OF THE BOUNDARIES OF THE MAORI
ELECTORAL DISTRICTS

NORTHERN MAORI

ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at a point on the line of mean high water of
the Tasman Sea at the North Head of the Manukau Harbour and proceeding north-westerly,
easterly, and south-easterly generally along the line of mean high water of the Tasman Sea,
Pacific Ocean, and Hauraki Gulf crossing the mouths of all harbours and inlets and by a right
line to the middle of the Tamaki River; thence southerly generally up the middle of that river
and the middle of Otara Creek to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Lot 159,
D.P. 51623; thence south-easterly to and along that boundary to the westernmost corner of
Lot 170, D.P. 51623; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundaries of Lots 170,
171, and 172, D.P. 51623 to the northernmost corner of the last-mentioned Lot 172; thence
easterly along the generally northern boundaries of Lots 173, 174, 176, 185, 188, and 189,
D.P. 51623 and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of Springs Road;
thence south-westerly along the middle of that road, East Tamaki Road, Preston Road, Reagan
Road, and Puhinui Road to a point in line with the eastern boundary of part Lot 2, D.P. 20537;
thence southerly to and along that boundary and the eastern boundary of part Lot 1, D.P. 20537,
the southern boundary of that part Lot 2 and part Clendons Grant to the eastern boundary
of Lot 47, D.P. 48002; thence southerly along the eastern boundaries of that Lot 47, part Lot
42, D.P. 50118, Section 17, Block XI, Otahuhu Survey District, part Lot 42, D.P. 50118, parts
Lot 44, D.P. 50757, and the production of the last boundary to the middle of the Puhinui
Stream; thence south-westerly generally down the middle of that stream to the middle of the
North Island Main Trunk Railway in Block X, Otahuhu Survey District; thence northerly
along the middle of that railway to a point in line with the northern boundary of an area of
railway land of 1.8489 hectares (4 acres, 2 roods, 11 perches) shown on S.O. Plan 25335 in
Block VI, Otahuhu Survey District; thence westerly to and along that boundary to the
northernmost corner of part Lot 2, D.P. 26507; thence northerly along the western
boundary of that Lot to a point in line with the northern boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 50674;
thence westerly to and along that boundary to the westernmost corner of that Lot; thence
southerly along the western boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 50674; thence northerly
along that boundary to its northernmost point; thence north-easterly along the south-
eastern boundaries of Lot 2, D.P. 50674, and Section 58, Block VI, Otahuhu Survey District,
and the north-western boundary of part Bucklands Grant shown on D.P. 27058, and the last
boundary produced to the middle of Great South Road; thence north-westerly along the middle
of that road to a point in line with the right bank of St Ann's Creek; thence westerly generally
to and along that right bank and the line of mean high water of the Manukau Harbour to
the point of commencement, and including the islands of Rangitoto, Motutapu, Brown's, Tiritiri,
Kawau, Little Barrier, and Great Barrier, and other adjacent islands.

WESTERN MAORI

ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the mean high water mark
of the sea coast with the mean high water mark of the north head of Manukau Harbour, being
a point on the generally south-eastern boundary of the Northern Maori Electoral District, hereinbefore
described, and proceeding generally north-easterly and generally south-easterly along the
generally south-western and generally eastern boundaries of the Northern Maori Electoral
to its intersection with the generally north-western boundary of the Eastern Maori Electoral;
thence generally south-westerly along the generally north-western boundary of the Eastern Maori Electoral
to and up the middle of the Kawhia River to its source; thence south-easterly along a right line
to a point on the summit of the Ruahine Range; thence generally southerly along the summit
of the Ruahine Range to Trig Station 60A, Wharite, in Block VII, Gorge Survey District;
thence westerly and south-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of Section 6, Block
VII, Gorge Survey District, and the south-eastern boundary of Section 52, Block XIV, Pohangina
Survey District, to the southernmost corner of the last-mentioned Section 52; thence north-westerly
and southerly along the eastern, northern, and western boundaries of Section 2, Block II, Gorge
Survey District and the north-western boundary of the last-mentioned Section 2, to the middle of Whariti
Road; thence generally north-westerly along the middle of that road to a point in line with
the south-eastern boundary of part Lot 2, D.P. 239; thence south-westerly to and along that
boundary (including the crossings of Saddle Road), the south-eastern boundaries of Lot 2, D.P.
239, and Section 4, Block II, Gorge Survey District, and the production of the last-mentioned
boundary to the middle of the Manawatu River; thence up the middle of the said river to a
point in line with the western boundary of Section 47, Block I, Woodville Survey District;
thence generally southerly along the western side of Cross Road; thence generally southerly
along the western side of that road, North Range Road, and to and across Pahiatua-Aokautere
Road (Pahiatua Track), to and along the western side of South Range Road, to a point in
line with the south-eastern boundary of Section 13, Block XIX, Mangahao Survey District;
thence south-easterly to and along that boundary and the south-western boundary of Section 1,
Block V, Mangahao Survey District, and its production to the middle of the Mangahao River;
thence south-westerly along the middle of that river to a point in line with the western boundary of
V, Mangahao Survey District, and the abutment of Inglis Road at the southern side of that
road; thence south-westerly along right lines to Trig Station F, Marima, situated in Block V,
Mangahao Survey District, and Trig Station AA, Arawaru, situated in Block I, Tararua Survey
District; thence north-westerly along a right line to the easternmost corner of Section 315,
Town of Fitzherbert; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundaries of Section 315, Section
316, 317, 318, all Town of Fitzherbert, and Section 2, Block X, Kairanga Survey District,
to a point in line with the middle of an unnamed road; thence generally north-westerly along
the middle of that road to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 319, Town
of Fitzherbert; thence generally north-westerly to and along the last-mentioned boundary, the
south-western boundaries of Section 320 and Section 333, Town of Fitzherbert, to the
south-eastern boundary of Section 332, Town of Fitzherbert; thence south-westerly along the
boundary of Section 333, aforesaid, and its production to the middle of the road; thence
generally north-westerly along the middle of that road and the middle of State Highway No.
57 to a point in line with the middle of Tane Road; thence generally westerly to and along
the middle of that road (including the crossing of the North Island Main Trunk Railway) to
its intersection with the middle of Opiki Road; thence northerly along the middle of Opiki
Road to the middle of the Tokomaru River; thence down the middle of that river to its intersection
to the said corner of Lot 8, D.P. 8800 and due north by a right line to the middle of the Manawatu
River; thence down the middle of that river to a point in line with the mean high water mark
of the sea coast; thence generally northerly along the mean high water mark, crossing the mouths
of all harbours and inlets, to the point of commencement, and including the county of Chatham
islands, the islands of Motuote, Waiheke, and Ponui, and other adjacent islands.

EASTERN MAORI

ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at a point being the northernmost corner of Lot
3, D.P. 25055, situated in Block VIII, Whakatane Survey District, and proceeding generally
north-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of the said Lot; thence easterly along the mean
high water mark of the sea coast, crossing the mouths of all harbours and inlets to a point
on the sea coast being the north-eastern corner of part Takaroa 5231A Block XIII,
Patea Survey District, and proceeding north-westerly generally along the north-eastern boundary
of the said part Block and across Manga Road, again along the said north-eastern boundary
and its production to the middle of the Waiotu Stream, up the middle of that stream to a point
in line with the southern boundary of part Lot 6, D.P. 1026, to and along that boundary, the
the Palmerston North-Gisborne Railway, along the southern and western boundaries of the
said part Lot 6 and the south-western boundary of part Lot 1, D.P. 2315 to the north-eastern
boundary of Section 34, Block XI, Nuhaka North Survey District; along that boundary, the
north-eastern boundary of Section 16, Block XI, Nuhaka North Survey District, the south-eastern
boundary of Section 15, Block XI, Nuhaka North Survey District, the south-eastern boundary of
District, across State Highway No. 2, and along the westernmost corner of that section, along the
Block XI, Nuhaka North Survey District, to the westernmost corner of that section, along the
generally western boundary of the said Section 16, to the intersection of Maraetaha and Tarewa-
Tokonui Roads, along the eastern end of Maraetaha Road, to and along the generally western
side of the Tarewa-Tokonui Road, and along the production of the last right lined road roadside
to its intersection with the generally south-western boundary of part Section 3, Block VI, Nuhaka
North Survey District; along that boundary, the south-eastern boundaries of part Section 2, Block VI, Nuhaka
North Survey District, and Lot 1, D.P. 16751 (Hawkes Bay Registry) to the southernmost
corner of that lot, along the western boundary of Lot 1, aforesaid, to the north-eastern corner
of Nuhaka 2B2A1, along the generally northern boundary of Nuhaka 2B2A1 to the eastern
boundary of Section 6, Block V, Nuhaka North Survey District; along that boundary to and
to the northern side of Mangapoike Road along that roadside to the south-western corner of
Section 2, Block V, Nuhaka North Survey District; thence northerly along the western boundary
of the said Section 2, the western and northern boundaries of Section 6, Block V, Nuhaka
North Survey District, along the western boundary of part Mangapoike B, across the Waingake-
Mangapoike (Paparao) Road, and along the production of that western boundary to the middle
of the Mangapoike River; thence up the middle of that river to its confluence with the Mangarangiora
Stream; thence up the middle of that stream to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary
of part Mangapoike 2D, to and along that boundary to Trig Station F4, in Block VIII, Opoiti
Survey District; thence northerly along a right line to Trig Station 11, Opoiti Survey District;
