Duty Concessions—Qualifications with End-Use Requirements

  1. The Customs Department is reviewing the use of particular purpose declarations and end-use requirements which sometimes apply when duty concessions are granted. Conditions requiring that imported goods must be used in a specified end-use are placed for 2 principal reasons:

First, the goods may have possible uses outside an approved activity.

Secondly, the nature of the goods may be such that it is not possible to define them fully and accurately in general terms, and qualification in terms of a particular use assists in definition and control.
