CORRIGENDUM
Land Acquired for a Service Land in the Borough of Henderson

In the declaration with the above heading dated 8 August 1983, published in New Zealand Gazette of 18 August 1983, No. 128 at page 2660, for the expression “service land” where it occurs in the heading and in line 4, read “service lane”, which appears in the original declaration signed for the Minister of Works and Development.

Officers of Government of Ross Dependency Appointed

DAVID BEATTIE, Governor-General

WHEREAS, by the Order in Council dated the 30th day of July 1923*, made under the British Settlements Act 1887 of the United Kingdom Parliament, the Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief of New Zealand for the time being (hereinafter called the Governor) was appointed to be the Governor of the Ross Dependency, and all the powers and authorities which by the said order were given and granted to the Governor for the time being of the Dependency were thereby vested in him:

And whereas, by regulations made by the Governor on the 14th day of November 1923†, it was enacted that all persons appointed by the Governor for the time being of the Dependency should have such power and authority as might be granted them in due course of law, and might be empowered to do such things as might be necessary or desirable to ensure that the laws in force in the Dependency are duly observed and complied with in every respect, and to do all things necessary or expedient for the peace, order, and good government of the Dependency, and to safeguard and preserve Her Majesty’s rights and sovereignty over and in respect of the Dependency:

And whereas it is expedient that the persons hereinafter named be appointed officers of the Government of the Dependency:

Now, therefore, I, The Honourable Sir David Stuart Beattie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, and as such the Governor of the Ross Dependency, hereby appoint

Norman David Hardie, Esquire

as an officer of the Government of the Dependency for the period beginning with the 3rd day of October 1983 and ending with the close of the 20th day of February 1984:

And I hereby confer on the said Norman David Hardie while he holds office all the powers and authorities which may be exercised in New Zealand by a Justice of the Peace, and also the powers and authorities which may be so exercised by a Coroner:

And I hereby also appoint

Ian Gordon Sayers, Esquire

as an officer of the Government of the Dependency for the period beginning with the 3rd day of October 1983 and ending with the 15th day of October 1984 or such earlier date as he shall leave the Dependency:

And I hereby confer on the said Ian Gordon Sayers while he holds office all the powers and authorities that may be exercised in New Zealand by a Postmaster:

The said Norman David Hardie and the said Ian Gordon Sayers to exercise their functions at such places within the Dependency as may be directed by the officer for the time being appointed as an officer of the Government of the Dependency in whom is vested the general executive and administrative authority in preserving Her Majesty’s rights and sovereignty and the laws and regulations in force in the Dependency.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, as the Governor of the Ross Dependency, this 29th day of September 1983.
