The Standards Act 1965—Standard Specifications Revoked

PURSUANT to section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, the Standards Council, 26 August 1983, revoked the under-mentioned standard specifications.

Number and Title of Specifications

NZS 1214:1969 Protective helmets for racing motorcyclists.
(Superseded by NZS 5430:1983).

NZS 8621:1974 Life jackets for use in sheltered waters.
(Superseded by NZS 5823:1982).

The Standards Act 1965—Draft New Zealand Amendment Available for Comment

PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft amendment is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification

DZ 1900:Chapter 5/A16 Draft Amendment No. 16 to NZS 1900: Chapter 5:1963 Fire resisting construction and means of egress. Gratis.

Draft Amendment No. 16 proposes to amend fire resistance ratings to levels more in keeping with those of overseas standards, particularly the National Building Code of Canada and the Building Regulations 1976 of the United Kingdom.

Generally the proposal shows a significant reduction in FRR from many of those now specified in Chapter 5.

All persons who may be affected by this publication and who desire to comment thereon may obtain copies from the Standards Association of New Zealand, Wellington Trade Centre, 15-23 Sturdee Street (or Private Bag), Wellington.

The closing date for receipt of comment is 4 November 1983.

National Roads Board—Varying Notice of Declaration of State Highways

PURSUANT to section 11 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works and Development, hereby gives notice that it cancels the varying notice of declaration dated 9 July 1969, and published in the Gazette, 17 July 1969, No. 43, page 1338, and varies the notice declaring public highway to be State highways, dated 9 March 1960, published in the Gazette, 24 March 1960, No. 20, page 384, by deleting from Part I of that Schedule all that paragraph relating to No. 29 State Highway and substituting therefore the paragraph set out in the First Schedule hereto with effect from the publication of this notice in the Gazette, and further by deleting from Part II of that Schedule all that paragraph relating to Tauranga—No. 2 State Highway, and further by deleting from Part II of that Schedule all that paragraph relating to Tauranga—No. 2 State Highway and substituting therefore the paragraph set out in Second Schedule hereto with effect from the publication of this notice in the Gazette.


FIRST SCHEDULE

No. 29 State Highway (Mount Maunganui—Piarere)

Commencing in the Mount Maunganui Borough at the junction of Tasman Quay and Hull Road and proceeding thence via Hewlett’s Road, Mount Maunganui Road, Maungatapu Road, Maungatapu Bridge to Hairini Bypass, Tauriko, Te Poi, and Hinuera to the junction with State Highway 1 at Piarere.


SECOND SCHEDULE

TAURANGA—No. 2 State Highway. From the western boundary of the Borough of Tauranga, along Waihi Road, 11th Avenue, Cameron Road, 15th Avenue, Turret Road, Hairini bridge and causeway, Hairini to Maungatapu Bridge bypass, Maungatapu Road to the north-eastern boundary of the borough.

SURVEYORS EXAMINATIONS

  1. The New Zealand Acts and Regulations written examination will be held on Friday, 18 November 1983, at 9 a.m.

Applications, on the proper form together with the prescribed fee must reach the Secretary of the Board before 29 October 1983.

  1. The professional interview will be held starting on Monday, 19 March 1984, at 8.45 a.m.

Applications forms and further detailed information about the board’s requirements should be obtained from the undersigned.

The prescribed fees for the examinations are as follows:

PURSUANT to section 26 of the Fire Service Act 1975, the New Zealand Fire Service Commission gives the following notice.

  1. Title and commencement—This notice may be cited as the Cheltenham Fire District Abolition Notice 1983, and shall come into effect on the 1st day of November 1983.

  2. Abolition of District—The Cheltenham Fire District, declared to be a fire district pursuant to the Fire Service Act 1975, is hereby abolished.

PURSUANT to section 109A of the Transport Act 1962, the Secretary for Transport hereby gives the following notice:

  1. The heavy motor vehicles in the classes described in the First Schedule hereto are hereby exempted from the requirements of section 109A of the Transport Act 1962.
